Operation Rescue® Names Pro-Life Person of the Year

"Wichita, KS — Operation Rescue announces that Lila Rose, a 20-year old UCLA student that has made national headlines exposing wrong-doing at abortion clinics, is the recipient of its 2008 Person of the Year Malachi Award." “Lila Rose exemplifies the new wave of pro-life activism and best reflects Operation Rescue’s own efforts to expose illegal conduct in our nation’s abortion mills,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Her work has helped raise public awareness of the seedy underbelly of the abortion industry and has helped to launch criminal investigations that we pray will eventually hold out-of-control abortionists accountable for their criminal acts.” Visit: Operation Rescue®:

Deal W. Hudson : Change Is Coming to Our Nation's Abortion Laws

Change is Coming to Our Nation's Abortion Laws, written by Deal W. Hudson gives readers a glimpse of the direction the pro-abortion organizations who signed the doccument would like the Obama Administration to take:

"For example, notice the following four recommendations out of the many contained in the document:
· Provide $1 Billion for International Family Planning Programs
· Restore Funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
· Increase Funding for Title X Family Planning Program to $700 Million
· De-fund Abstinence-Only Programs
(Editor's note: Nothing like reaching across the asile to pro-lifers and knocking their teeth out!)
Taken together, the proposed policies would accomplish three things: 1) treat abortion as a health care right, 2) provide funding for abortions by insurance carriers or the government, and 3) put judges and political appointees in place who will protect the abortion and government-funding from future challenges." Did the Star of Bethlehem Really Exist? EWTN Christmas Specials

Did the Star of Bethlehem Really Exist?
“The Passion of the Christ” Producer Stephen McEveety created a documentary that proves the existence of the Star of Bethlehem. The star's existence has been debated for centuries. “Either they believe the Star is true or they think it was made up by the early Church,” says Texas A&”M Professor Rick Larson. “I took a different approach in my research and treated the Star as a mystery or puzzle, looking at the Bible and comparing the facts of Scripture with facts from science and history.” (The EWTN Christmas special will be aired Dec. 25, 8 p.m. Dec. 27, 3 a.m. Dec. 28, 5:30 p.m. Dec. 29, 10:30 a.m. Dec. 31) For information on this and other Christmas specials visit

Is Captialism Ruining Christmas?

"Catholics are seriously annoyed at the way the holiday season is changing. If you are among them, you are probably already annoyed at this article, because I didn't say Christmas season. It is Christmas, for goodness sake, so why can't we just say that? I received an e-mail the other day from Amazon.com headlined, 'The 12 Days of Holiday,' and the official greeting we get from store clerks is 'Happy Holidays.' In fact, there are cases in which corporate higher-ups have ordered employees not to say 'Merry Christmas.'

All of this represents a shift in the culture, no question about it. But who or what is at fault?" Visit:InsideCatholic.com - Is Capitalism Ruining Christmas?:

Anti-Religion Sign Set Up Next To Christmas Crib in Washington State Capitol Building

A sign which reads, 'There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds' has been allowed to be placed beside a traditional Nativity scene and a 25 foot Christmas tree, now called a 'holiday tree,' inside the Washington state capitol building by state governor Christine Gregoire.
The sign was sponsored and set up by the atheistic Freedom from Religion Foundation and approved by Gregoire and Attorney General Rob McKenna, who defended their decision by saying that free-speech rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment justified allowing the sign to be erected." "My boyfriend drove me [to another town] to have the procedure done. When I went into the clinic, I remember thinking how very cold, dark and dank it was. That was also how I felt, a cold person for having this procedure done. I was scared and alone. We walked into the office and the nurse called me back to the room. They did not explain the procedure me and only told me that the situation—and I—would be all right after it was over. The nurse gave me a sedative for the pain, yet I cried throughout the entire ordeal, not from just the pain, from the life of the baby being sucked so brutally from my body." Visit:

Advent: Preparing Ourselves for the Coming of Christ: A Homily by Father Peter West

Fr. West's Catholic Blog: November 2005: "The first part which begins on the First Sunday of Advent and lasts until December 16 emphasizes the preparation for the second coming of Christ. Advent should be a joyful time. A large part of the joy of Christmas is the waiting in joyful expectation for it. If we prepare in the right spirit for Christmas we will not only enjoy our Christmas morning but the time of preparation as well.

Advent should be a time when we renew our Christian commitment. We should seek during this time to deepen our relationship with Christ so that when we appear before him as judge, we won’t hear those awful words 'I never knew you. Depart from me into the everlasting flame prepared for the devil and his angels.' (Matthew 7, 23)"

Pro-Abortion Med Student Shrinks away from Practice after "Disturbingly Brutal" Procedure

"Though she had practiced the procedure as a student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine by scraping out a piece of fruit with razor-sharp abortion instruments, Lesley Wojcik learned that her training could never have prepared her for a real abortion.
What caught her off-guard, says the second-year med student, was the brutality of a procedure that subjects women to extreme pain.
In a Washington Post article detailing her journey to become an abortionist, Wojcik describes how during her first witnessed abortion, she recoiled in horror as the mother began letting out blood-curdling screams. The woman, who was 'in obvious pain,' had been only partially sedated, and the ordeal was so disturbing that Wojcik says she nearly vomited."Pro-Abortion Med Student Shrinks away from Practice after "Disturbingly Brutal" Procedure:

Editor's note: Wesley Smith writes: "There isn't space in a blog to fully describe the piece (from the New York Times magazine published prior to the election on assisted suicide.) So, let's just focus on two things. First, this is an 'I-I,' 'me-me' agenda of the elites and Establishment-types like Gardner. Here Governor Gardner describes his reasons for promoting assisted suicide: As he (Gardner) states in the piece:

'Why do this?' he asked, turning from the other tables toward me. 'I want to be involved in public life. I was looking for an issue, and this one fell in my lap. One advantage I have in this thing is that people like me. 'The other'--his leprechaun eyes lost their glint; his fleshy cheeks seemed to harden, his lips to thin, his face to reshape itself almost into a square--'is that my logic is impeccable. My life, my death, my control.'" (Editor's Note: Nothing like self delusion!) To continue with the Wesley Smith blog post visit:

Sue Cirba writes: Why focus on assisted suicide now? Everyone expects the Obama administration to concentrate on promoting abortion wherever they can, but not as many are aware that Obama will just as vehemently promote assisted suicide. Billionaire George Soros who has heavily contributed to the Democrats, will now expect to be repaid. Remember it is Soros who bankrolls the extremists at MoveOn.org so a network is in place to reach the grassroots liberals, exert political pressure and continue to raise money.

The New Atlantis » Ten Years of "Death with Dignity"

"The Oregon Death with Dignity Act (ODDA), which permits physicians to write a prescription for lethal drugs to qualified terminally ill patients, has been in effect for a little over a decade. It has, from October 1997 to the present, been the only such statute in the United States permitting what is variously called “physician-assisted suicide,” “physician aid in dying,” or “death with dignity” (the statute refers to the procedure as the ending of life in a “humane and dignified manner”). However, in the November 2008 election, citizens in the state of Washington will have an opportunity to vote on ballot initiative I-1000, a measure that is essentially the same as the Oregon statute. The advocacy group promoting I-1000 has drawn on features of the Oregon experience to indicate that the Oregon law is “very safe and effective” and that “aid in dying is working.” To weigh the claims made by supporters and opponents of the proposed Washington state initiative, we ought to carefully examine the first decade of Oregon’s experience with physician-assisted suicide." oip

For the results of the 40 Days for Life Fall 2008 Campaign read this blog post:
"Amazing things happened during this fall's 40 Days for Life effort:
More than 76,000 believers joined together in an historic display of Christian unity, praying and fasting for an end to abortion, and conducting peaceful 40-day prayer vigils outside Planned Parenthood centers and abortion facilities
Reports from around the country documented 614 lives spared from abortion -- and those are just the ones we know about" But even more amazing is the more recent post showing 40 days for life volunteers in California standing before an abortion clinic with a real estate sign in front it. Phill Kline Wins Planned Parenthood Abortion Case that Media Reported he Lost

"December 8, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – While the mainstream media has widely, indeed almost exclusively, reported that Kansas’ pro-life Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline lost a major case before the state Supreme Court last week, the court decision reveals that, far from losing, Kline in fact came out victorious against Planned Parenthood on every major point.
The case was brought against Kline by Planned Parenthood (PP) of Kansas, which sought to have Kline return to the attorney general’s office all the PP patient records that he had obtained during his term as AG. While serving as Attorney General, Kline had initiated an investigation against PP, bringing 107 criminal charges against the organization for violations including performing illegal late-term abortions and falsifying documents." "Anne Arthur, a grief counselor, told the parliament she has never fully recovered from having bullied her daughter into killing her unborn child. 'I drove my daughter to the abortion clinic like a lamb to the slaughterhouse, against her will,' Arthur told her audience.
'I pressed my views on her and convinced her that she would be unable to care for the child while studying and an abortion would be the best thing to do, offering her no other solution or help … While my 12-week-old grand-daughter was ripped apart from my daughter's womb, I knew with brutal clarity that I had made the greatest mistake of my life,' said Arthur." Film Review: Volition - A Film that Demands a Radical Choice

Tim and Matthew Morgan have somehow produced a first-class short film that masterfully deals with the taboo issue of abortion despite working with a budget that would pay for approximately thirty seconds of a Hollywood blockbuster. 'Volition,' first created for a short film competition, is as yet unknown, but will soon, I predict, become very well known indeed, as it very well should.
Indeed, Volition is an astonishing achievement. The film itself is not made any greater by the fact that Tim Morgan, who directed it, is only 23-years-old, and that his brother, who composed all of the music, is only 20-years-old, but the ages of the brothers does help put the scope of their accomplishment into even greater relief." Bishop takes his place on the national stage with his staunch anti-abortion stance | News | thetimes-tribune.com - The Times-Tribune

"Bishop Joseph F. Martino arrived unannounced at a Honesdale forum on faith and politics in October and insisted that abortion must be the primary voting issue for Catholics.
“No social issue has caused the death of 50 million people,” he told the audience at St. John’s Catholic Church. Before he made his hasty exit, he added, “This is madness, people.” Bishop Martino has emphasized that he is the “one teacher” in the Diocese of Scranton, but in recent months, word of the passion of his lessons has traveled far beyond the 11 counties where he has spiritual authority." Report Reveals Students Lack Awareness of Resources Needed by Pregnant and Parenting College Students: Perception is Reality - Feminists for Life of America

"Feminists for Life of America has released Perception is Reality, a study of FFL's first nationwide Pregnancy Resources SurveyTM. FFL's Pregnancy Resources Survey was created to discover students' awareness of resources and support for pregnant and parenting students on college and university campuses. This report, the first of its kind, highlights the perceptions that students have about resource availability on their campuses.
According to FFL's report, responses to the survey reveal that either most surveyed campuses lack resources or that students - including student activists most interested in the provision of resources - are ignorant of the resources available. For pregnant and parenting students on those campuses, the perception that they have no resources or support is their reality." Visit:

Pope Gregory the Great - Spirituality for Busy People | Christian History

I thought readers might enjoy this article on Pope Gregory the Great.
"For those who think administrators are no more than 'empty suits,' with nothing to teach us spiritually, the early medieval Pope Gregory I ('the Great') is the great counter-example. Gregory (ca. 540-604) was a contemplative mystic at heart who struggled all of his days with the conflict between busyness and intimacy with Christ. And this struggle gave him great pastoral sympathy for a group of people who had become 'second-class citizens' in Christendom: married layfolk. His meditations on the busy life—the life he associated both with Jesus' friend Martha and Jacob's wife Leah—led him to formulate a spiritual theology that blasted monastic elitism and freed busy laypeople to enjoy the contemplative life." Teen Sex: The Parent Factor

I recently found a number of excellent resources on abstinence education while preparing for a television interview on the subject. An article on the influence of parents called Teen Sex: The Parent Factor by Christine Kim of the Heritage Foundation is enlightening. If parents understood how influential they are, perhaps more attention may be paid to cultivating the parent-child relationship. Of particular importance are an intact family structure, parent's disapproval of adolescent sex, the level of parental involvement in their children's lives and the quality of the parent-child relationship.

Considerable information on the consequences of early teen sexual activity is also included for example, "Engaging in early sexual activity elevates the risk of teenage girls becoming pregnant and single mothers. Girls who become sexually active during early adolescence are three times as likely to become single mothers as those who remain abstinent throughout their teenage years. Nearly 40 percent of girls who begin sexual activity at ages 13 or 14 will give birth outside marriage, compared to 9 percent of those who remain abstinent until their early twenties.[7]"Teen Sex: The Parent Factor:

Operation Rescue: Funeral For Baby Shanice To Be Held 26 Months After Being Left On Abortion Clinic Roof To Die

Dear Readers,
In the frantic last few weeks before the election, several stories went unfinished. I am nost upset about missing this one from early October.
If I had a million dollars, I would spend it placing ads in newspapers about this child's death. An African-American mother returned to her abortionist to deliver what was supposed to be a dead baby.
"According a police affidavit, the mother “observed the baby moving and gasping for air for approximately five (5) minutes. The staff began screaming that the baby was alive; at which time, Ms. Belkis Gonzalez cut the umbilical cord, threw it into a red bag with black printing. Ms. Gonzalez then swept the baby, with her hands, into the same red bag along with the gauze used during the procedure.”VISIT: Operation Rescue® » Blog Archive » Funeral For Baby Shanice To Be Held 26 Months After Being Left On Abortion Clinic Roof To Die:

Election analysis by Lowman Henry of Pennsylvlania's Lincoln Institute:
"The Republican Party nationally, and in Pennsylvania, lies in tatters today. Having lost the White House to Barack Obama, suffered historic losses in Congressional elections, been almost shut-out in statewide races, and experienced further erosion in the state House there is no doubt the GOP has hit rock bottom.
It is, most significantly, a loss for so-called moderate Republicanism. Party moderates have opined time and again that a more middle-of-the-road Presidential candidate could win Pennsylvania. McCain was touted as that candidate. He lost by 11% – far worse than the George W. Bush losses in either 2000 (5%) or 2004 (3%)." Visit:

Secondhand Smoke: Your 24/7 Seminar on Bioethics and the Importance of Being Human: Dire Straits: Assisted Suicide Passes in Washington State: "The culture of death once again has the wind in its sails after being moribund, at least as to assisted suicide, since 1994. There are many reasons for the loss having to do with the overwhelming financial backing from all around the world in favor of assisted suicide, to a popular former governor as spokesperson, an in-the-tank media that were full cheerleaders for the pro side, to a local campaign in opposition that was, to put it politely, very disappointing in its vision, imagination, and execution.

But none of that matters now. Here's what we face: There are very powerful people of the George Soros stripe, with a great deal of money, who are committed to pushing this agenda throughout the nation."

Local News | Wash. voters approve assisted suicide initiative | Seattle Times Newspaper

The election of Obama and an increase in Senate Democrats was not the only bad news for pro-life America.
"Washington the second state to give terminally ill people the option of medically assisted suicide.
The ballot measure, patterned after Oregon's 'Death with Dignity' law, allows a terminally ill person to be prescribed lethal medication, which would be self-administered.
With about 43 percent of the expected vote counted Tuesday in unofficial returns, I-1000 was being approved by a margin of about 58 percent to about 42 percent." Visit:

Nov. 5th - A Cartoon By John F. Borra

Dear Readers,
For weeks and perhaps months after Nov. 5th political pundits will ponder the meaning of the election of Barack Obama. I doubt however that any will draw a more succinct and factual conclusion than John Borra in his cartoon Nov. 5th.

Is Pennsylvania McCain’s last stand? | News | thetimes-tribune.com - The Times-Tribune

In an article which pondered the reason that Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin spent so much time in Pennsylvania, local officials concluded: “There is no other reason for John McCain and Sarah Palin to be in the state based on what the polls say, except that they’re counting on us to be bigots,” said former Scranton Mayor James McNulty, a Democrat. “Why else are they here? They’re counting on Pennsylvania not voting for a black man.”
Ridiculous, says Republican Lackawanna County Commissioner A.J. Munchak.

“He forgets that we were labeled bitter and hanging on to our guns and our Bibles,” Mr. Munchak said. “I don’t believe the polls. I honestly don’t believe the polls. I think a lot of people, when asked, are afraid to say they’re voting against Obama because people will put that (racist) label on them ... I think it’s a lot closer than Mr. McNulty thinks.”" Visit:

McCain Rally in Scranton

While 3,000 attended the McCain rally in Scranton this afternoon, a few hundred waited outside, some with tickets, as the doors were closed for reasons of fire safety. Since my husband and I were two of those left outside, we will have to rely on the Scranton Times for McCain's speech.

"SCRANTON -- On the rise in statewide polls as Election Day looms, Republican presidential nominee John McCain repeatedly ripped Democratic nominee Barack Obama on Sunday for proposing tax hikes and lacking experience during what was probably the last local stop by a candidate on either presidential ticket.

Speaking to a wildly enthusiastic crowd of about 3,000 at the University of Scranton, Mr. McCain used a 24-minute speech to repeatedly focus on Mr. Obama’s tax plan, charging taxes won’t only go up on the wealthy as the Democratic nominee says." Story Continues:

RU-486 Deaths - Abortion Kills Some Women

Barak Obama speaks of abortion in terms of a "right". He promised to sign the "Freedom of Choice Act(FOCA)" if elected. FOCA will remove all laws design to warn women of the dangers of abortion. Listed below is a list of women killed by using RU486 the Abortion Pill. How many more young women will die once state-enacted informed consent laws are eliminated by an Obama administration?

"Four months ago, a little girl in Samoa was born with serious disabilities. Doctors did not believe the baby could survive, so they urged the parents not to feed their daughter. But the parents loved their daughter and snuck food to Miracle. Beyond all medical expectations, Miracle survived.

Ponder, if you will, what I just wrote: Miracle's parents had to sneak food into the hospital! This wasn't even a feeding tube case. Had the parents acquiesced and permitted Miracle to starve, her death would have been akin to being exposed on a hill—the method ancient Romans used to rid themselves of “defective” babies." Barack Obama's Health Care Plan Covers Abortion, Would Require Tax-Funding

Yesterday while going through signs I could use for a prayerful witness in front of Obama campaign headquarters,I noticed two "Abortion is not health care" signs from the Clinton years. Would an Obama health care plan include abortion? Absolutely. Today Lifenews.com offers the proof.

"Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A leading pro-life group has uncovered a questionnaire the campaign of Barack Obama filed with a pro-abortion web site. The survey makes it clear that Obama's national health care plan would include abortions and that they would likely be funded at taxpayer expense."

Newt, "Liberal media likened to Pravda?" I've been saying that for years! On Obama's behalf they overlook ACORN, Obama's Infanticide Votes, Obama's ties to Planned Parenthood, Bill Ayres, etc. The media is ignoring the birth certificate issue,Obama's campaign contributions from foreigners, his endless promisses to anyone and everyone. With a straight face Obama says he won't raise taxes? Who can get away with this without having the media in their back pocket. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin is vilified. Scranton Bishop Unexpectedly Visits Forum, Repudiates False Teachings on Catholic Voting

"Parishioners of St. John’s church in Scranton were discussing a statement that had been produced by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) that some argue lends itself to the interpretation that Catholics can vote for pro-abortion candidates under certain circumstances. They were taken aback, however, when Bishop Joseph Martino arrived at the forum unannounced and told his flock, “No USCCB document is relevant in this diocese. The USCCB doesn’t speak for me.”
An eyewitness said that the bishop told his audience that he had voted against the USCCB statement, titled “Faithful Citizenship,” and described it as a consensus document “written to mean all things to all people.”"

Obama's Ties to ACORN

Face it. The fate of the pro-life movement depends upon the ability of Americans to hear the truth about the economic crisis. Most Americans will vote economic issues first. Its a fact. For 35 years now the right to life has been a secondary issue to most Americans. Another factor in play is the way the liberal media allows the Democrats to wash their hands of responsibility for every problem.

Obama was a significant player in the mortgage crisis and in the interest of truth - he should not be allowed to pretend he had nothing to do with it.
Sadly, if Obama is elected, we will have Supreme Court Justices nominated whose judicial philosophy mirrors that of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She is the Supreme Court Justice Obama most admires. With the election of Obama, we will see another 40 years of abortion on demand. We must do everything we can to expose the truth about Obama.

The Increasingly Erratic, Super-Gaffetastic Joe Biden -- Michelle Malkin -- GOPUSA

"Out of Biden's mouth, this is called candor. Out of anyone else's mouth, it would be 'fear-mongering,' 'negative campaigning' and a 'distraction.'
Tooting his own horn while vandalizing his running mate's, Biden bragged: 'I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know.' Yeah. Colleagues like that guy who had a mere 143 days of Senate experience before launching his presidential bid and choosing you to shore up his meager credibility, Joe."

Biden Predicts Crisis « NetRight Nation

There's going to be a crisis? Or is Obama going to manufacture a crisis to take away our Constitutional rights?
"At a fundraiser over the weekend, Joe Biden predicts a crisis that will test a potential Obama presidency. This is a rather strange prediction. Here are the words from Biden:
“It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”" For more visit:

Bravo Senator McCain!

Senator John McCain came out swinging - calling Obama on his ties to ACORN, and Bill Ayres. But the best part of the debate was McCain's defense of human life.
Yes, he said he would have no litmus test for judges, but said he would appoint strict constructionists. This is the only legitimate way to interpret the Constitution. Once you allow judges to legislate from the bench as liberal judges have done, you don't have a Constitution any more. The right to life, to private property, and the second amendment have been under attack.

Obama said before an audience of Planned Parenthood workers in July 2007 that Ruth Baider Ginsburg is his model for appointments to the Supreme Court. She is the most radical of the Justices. Obama's choice of Joe Biden is a further indication that the Supreme Court Justices Obama will nominate will have to pass his pro-abortion litmus test or face the kind of disgraceful treatment of character-assassination-by-Senate-committee that Biden doled out to Clarence Thomas. Remember, Biden chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings of Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas. Both hearings involved personal attacks on the judges in an attempt to assail their character. So much so that Justice Clarence Thomas said of the hearings: "This is a circus, a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves. And it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order you will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U. S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.”

The Associated Press: Palin: Mortgage plan not a handout, but a hand up and I'll tell you what the press left out.

The following is your typical mainstream media account of the Sarah Palin visit to Scranton, PA. As one wouuld expect any references to love of family and love of country are ignored.
The crowd was amazing and in singing the national anthem nearly everyone had his hand over his heart in stark contrast to a photo of Obama making the rounds on the internet. American flags: large ones were draped on the stadium walls and small ones were held by supporters of McCain/Palin. Contrast that with the recent images of Obama's campaign where he seems to have created his own flag which includes a round red circle - does that remind anyone of something?
Sarah and her husband and Lee Greenwood too, were all incredibly gracious spending a good 20 minutes signing campaign signs, t-shirts, etc. and shaking hands with the overwhelmingly supportive crowd. And of course Sarah Palin's pledge to be an advocate for special needs children is omitted in the following article - but hey, their photos are better than mine:

"SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said Tuesday that her running mate John McCain's plan to reduce or eliminate taxes and help distressed homeowners with their mortgages will 'get this economy moving again.'
At a raucous rally in Scranton, Palin said McCain's mortgage proposal is 'not a handout, but a hand up' to help financially overwhelmed Americans hang on to their homes."

"I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody.' Barack Obama
From GOPUSA - Spread the wealth around? This is America, isn't it? Redistributing the 'wealth' is a classic tenet of Marxist philosophy. Communist China, the former Soviet Union, Cuba, and so on.... they all believe in government ownership of basically everything. Hard work, initiative, expertise... none of that is rewarded. Instead, the efforts of the talented and the hard-working are taken from them and given to those who don't work as hard. The result is a decrease in productivity, not to mention the self-fulfillment that comes from being rewarded for a job well done. And this is exactly what Barack Obama wants to do!"The Loft:

Biden's Unreported Hypocrisy - HUMAN EVENTS

This brilliant analysis of Biden's debate performance is a must-read as well as a reminder to pro-lifers. From Human Events:
"Not a single analyst in a major press organ will call your attention to Joe Biden’s monstrous act of moral depravity, revealing in two distinct ways separate pathways of Democrat hypocrisy and cynicism.
Here is what happened. The penultimate question to the candidates was: is there any position you changed while in office upon achieving new insights into the legislative process? Biden said yes. When he arrived in the Judiciary Committee, he brought with him a belief from law school. It held that if a President nominates a qualified jurist for the Supreme Court, the Senate was bound to confirm the nominee. He soon came to conclude that ideology should also be considered as a factor, so he proudly fought the elevation of Judge Robert Bork to the court."
Biden went from a bi-partisan method of judges and decided that would no longer do - "every confirmation hearing would now become a partisan wrangle." For the complete article visit: Biden's Unreported Hypocrisy - HUMAN EVENTS:
And if you can't remember where Biden's lesson leads, remember Joe Biden was the Chairman of the Senate's Confirmation Hearings of Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas.

Bishop Martino of Scranton on Respect Life Sunday - Catholic Online

The Bishop of Scranton, Joseph F. Martino directed priests of the Diocese of Scranton to read a letter on Respect Life Sunday at the Masses of Obligation celebrated Oct. 4 and 5. In it the Bishop stated, "laws that protect abortion constitute injustice of the worst kind. They rest on several false claims including that there is no certainty when life begins, that there is no certainty about when a fetus becomes a person and that some human beings may be killed to advance the interests or convenience of others...The life of a human being begins at conception. the church has long taught this simple truth and science confirms it. Biologists can now show you the delicate and beautiful development of the human embryo in its first days of existence. this is simply a fact that reasonable people accept. Regarding the second, the embryo and the fetus have the potential to do all that an adult person does. Finally the claim that the human fetus may be sacrficed to the interests or convenience of his mother or someone else is greviously wrong. All three claims have the same result: the weakest and most vulnerable are denied because of their age, the most basic protection that we demand for ourselves. this is discrimination at its worst and no person of conscience should support it.

Michelle Malkin » SARAH ROCKS!

Probably the most exhaustive number of comments on the Biden-Palin debate can be found on Michelle Malkin's Blog:
"Sarah Palin is the real deal. Five weeks on the campaign trail, thrust onto the national stage, she rocked tonight’s debate.
She was warm, fresh, funny, confident, energetic, personable, relentless, and on message. She roasted Obama’s flip-flops on the surge and tea-with-dictators declarations, dinged Biden’s bash-Bush rhetoric, challenged the blame-America defeatism of the Left, and exuded the sunny optimism that energized the base in the first place." Comments from Gary Bauer and Mike Gallagher on Sarah Palin's Debate Performance

Gary Bauer:
"Foreign policy was supposed to be the area in which Palin was most vulnerable.
But Palin was more than confident in criticizing Obama’s pledge to meet as
president with rogue foreign leaders without preconditions. And while foreign affairs is supposed to be Senator Joe Biden’s strong suit, it was Palin who had
most of the memorable lines. She deftly pointed out what a critic Biden had
been of Obama’s foreign policy before the Delaware senator had been chosen as Obama’s number two. And she added this memorable line about the Obama-Biden timeline for withdrawal in Iraq: “Your plan is a white flag of surrender in Iraq.... " Visit:

Catholic.net - A Tale of 2 Down Syndrome Babies

First Baby, Trig Palin: "Sarah Palin, a mother of four in her 40s, a governor, a very busy working woman who already “had it all,” was told only 10 months ago that the child she was carrying in her womb had Down syndrome. True to her principles and integrity, she chose life when other mothers choose abortion. That baby, born in April, is now a member of her family. It was a choice that has thrilled pro-lifers and has excited them more than any other aspect of the Palin pick.

Second Baby, the nameless baby left to die at Christ Medical Center, Oaklawn, Il: Nurse Jill Stanek witnessed the death of this child born by abortion and testified before Obama’s committee in the Illinois Senate: Stanek said of the baby, “He was too weak to move very much, expending any energy he had trying to breathe."
Sen. Barak Obama was unfazed by her sad testimony of cradling a newborn baby who had just survived an abortion but was refused medical care." To read Dr. Paul Kengore's article visit:

"Jesus Christ ... does not ask us to take up his Cross only to have us leave it at the voting booth door,” Bishop Martino says in the two-page pastoral letter, which will also be circulated with all parish bulletins on Saturday and Sunday. In it, he criticizes the laws that protect abortion rights and takes particular aim at political candidates who express support for those rights" The article continues: Scranton Diocese priests read abortion position letter to parishioners | News | thetimes-tribune.com - The Times-Tribune:

The Elephant in the Room: Hope does not disappoint | Philadelphia Inquirer | 09/25/2008

Senator Rick Santorum, (U.S. Senator from PA from 1995-2007) currently writes for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Senator Santorum's recent column is about his personal experiences of children with Down Syndrome. Sadly, America's abortion culture aborts 90% of children with Down Syndrome. Sarah Palin and the Santorums provide America with an alternate view.

"Four months ago, Karen and I were blessed with our eighth child, Bella, who three days later was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a syndrome with a mortality rate of more than 90 percent in the first year. I subsequently discovered that a friend's 12-year-old son, Brendan, who also had Down syndrome, had a reoccurrence of leukemia. Then, two weeks ago, a friend's father performed a heroic act to save the life of his 20-year-old son with Down syndrome. And 12 years ago next week, our family will commemorate the date when we were told that Karen's fourth pregnancy had gone 'awry.'"To read this moving story visit: The Elephant in the Room: Hope does not disappoint | Philadelphia Inquirer | 09/25/2008:

"In 1999 a gruesome discovery was made that an Illinois hospital was shelving babies to die in a soiled utility room who had survived their abortions.
The Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act was introduced in 2001 to provide legal protection to all born babies, wanted or not, including the right to medical care.
Then-state Senator Barack Obama voted against Born Alive 4 times in 3 years and was the sole senator to speak against it on the Senate floor in 2001 and 2002.
In 2002, the Federal version of Born Alive passed unanimously in the US Senate and by overwhelming voice vote in the House. The pro-abortion group NARAL even went neutral on the bill.
But In 2003, Barack Obama voted against the identical version of Born Alive in Illinois. Then, for the next 4 years he repeatedly misrepresented his vote until it was recently discovered in the IL General Assembly archives." To learn more visit Born Alive Truth:

Scranton

Senator John McCain appeared at a Townhall meeting in Scranton Pennsylvania this morning. As one Scranton Times reporter noted "What stood out most in a packed crowd at the Scranton Cultural Center Monday morning were the veterans and military families -- many wearing hats touting the military branch they or loved ones serve in -- and the Catholic moms, with children in one hand and anti-abortion rights signs in the other." The reporter interviewed Mae Salitski of Carbondale, a 16-year-old who said her family supports John McCain because of the abortion issue. Miss Salitsky added, "I believe life starts from conception. And I would think it should be obvious to everyone." The article continues:

NYT: Abortion dividing Catholic votes - The New York Times- msnbc.com

Once a reliable Democratic voting bloc, Catholics have emerged as a pivotal swing vote in recent presidential races. Evenly divided in a New York Times-CBS News poll over the summer, Catholics make up about a quarter of the national electorate and about a third in the pivotal battleground states of Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania . 'Whoever wins the Catholic vote will generally win our state and, most of the time, the nation,' said G. Terry Madonna, a political scientist at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.
And Scranton, a city dominated by the kind of white working-class Catholics who have often defected from the Democrats in presidential elections, is a focus of special attention this year" Visit: NYT: Abortion dividing Catholic votes - The New York Times- msnbc.com:

RealClearPolitics - Articles - The Gibson Doctrine

I watched part of the Charles Gibson's interview of Sarah Palin and felt Gibson was true to his elitist, anti-Christian views. Like most in the media, Gibson scoffs at devout Christians. I was particularly annoyed by his reference to Palin's soldier son as "being on a mission from God". If I could have jumped through the TV, I would have interjected, "We all have a mission from God Mr. Gibson, some of us seek and follow it and others choose to follow their own path."
This article from Real Clear Politics is evidence others were also annoyed by Gibson's interview.
Dennis Prager wrote:
"Gibson intended to humiliate Palin.
It wasn't even subtle. Virtually everything Gibson did and virtually every question he posed was designed to trap, or trick, or demean Gov. Palin. There are views of his face that so reek of contempt that anyone shown photos of his look would immediately identify it as contemptuous." Visit: RealClearPolitics - Articles - The Gibson Doctrine:

U.K. Mother Murders Daughter Because "Embarrassed" by Disability

"CHESTER, Wales, September 12, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - This week, a UK court heard the case of a mother who allegedly deliberately drowned her disabled child in a bath because she was ashamed and embarrassed by her daughter's cerebral palsy.
According to the Telegraph, prosecutor Michael Chambers explained to the court how Joanne Hill's husband had refused to give four-year old Naomi up for adoption, despite Joanne's inability to accept the fact that her daughter had cerebral palsy" The mother took and drowned this precious 4 year old in her home bathtub. When you see the picture of this beautiful child you will be absolutely sickened at the thought that her own mother could kill her.
My college internship was working at United Cerebral Palsey on Lackawanna Ave in Scranton (It is no longer there.) I remember a young woman in her twenties by the name of Janice. Janice was in a wheelchair, her hands were twisted and her speech was dificult to understand at first. I used to help her with reading. The thing I most remember about Janice is that she was a happy person - despite all the physical problems she had, she enjoyed life. Little Naomi Hill will never get to grow up and develop her talents and enjoy life, its heart wrenching.

Full Text: Remarks by John McCain - 2008 Republican National Convention

Remarks by Senator John McCain: "I fight to restore the pride and principles of our party. We were elected to change Washington, and we let Washington change us. We lost the trust of the American people when some Republicans gave in to the temptations of corruption. We lost their trust when rather than reform government, both parties made it bigger. We lost their trust when instead of freeing ourselves from a dangerous dependence on foreign oil, both parties and Senator Obama passed another corporate welfare bill for oil companies. We lost their trust, when we valued our power over our principles.

We’re going to change that. We’re going to recover the people’s trust by standing up again for the values Americans admire. The party of Lincoln, Roosevelt and Reagan is going to get back to basics.

We believe everyone has something to contribute and deserves the opportunity to reach their God-given potential from the boy whose descendents arrived on the Mayflower to the Latina daughter of migrant workers. We’re all God’s children and we’re all Americans.

We believe in low taxes; spending discipline, and open markets. We believe in rewarding hard work and risk takers and letting people keep the fruits of their labor.

We believe in a strong defense, work, faith, service, a culture of life, personal responsibility, the rule of law, and judges who dispense justice impartially and don’t legislate from the bench" For the full text of Senator Mccain's remarks visit: Full Text: Remarks by John McCain - 2008 Republican National Convention:

Remarks As Prepared for Delivery: Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson - 2008 Republican National Convention

The speeches I enjoyed most from the Republican National Convention were those by former senator Fred Thompson, Governor Palin and Senator McCain so I've posted links to all three.

Former Senator Fred Thompson:
"Some Washington pundits and media big shots are in a frenzy over the selection of a woman who has actually governed rather than just talked a good game on the Sunday talk shows and hit the Washington cocktail circuit. Well, give me a tough Alaskan Governor who has taken on the political establishment in the largest state in the Union -- and won -- over the beltway business-as-usual crowd any day of the week.

Let's be clear ... the selection of Governor Palin has the other side and their friends in the media in a state of panic. She is a courageous, successful, reformer, who is not afraid to take on the establishment.

Sound like anyone else we know?" For more of Fred Thompson's RNC speech visit: Remarks As Prepared for Delivery: Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson - 2008 Republican National Convention:

Remarks as Prepared for Delivery by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin - 2008 Republican National Convention

Governor Sarah Palin from her speech at the Republican National Convention:
"Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves.

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco." Palin's speech continues here: Remarks as Prepared for Delivery by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin - 2008 Republican National Convention:

Last Abortion Clinic in South Dakota Closes after Law Requires Patients be Informed of Possible Side Effects

Here's one of those stories that I meant to post but forgot while on vacation.
I'll post it here as an encouragement to all the 40 Days for Life prayer warriors who are gearing up for the Fall campaign which begins Sept. 24th.

Last Abortion Clinic in South Dakota Closes after Law Requires Patients be Informed of Possible Side Effects "Planned Parenthood closed its doors after their abortionists, who are flown in from other states, refused to work under the new law that went into effect the end of July 2008. The law orders abortionists to inform patients of the humanity of their babies and that the procedure could affect their mental health two hours before the abortion is set to be performed. The law also provides that abortionists can be sued if they do not comply." ‘I Am Home, Joe Biden, 9•1•08’ with photo gallery | News | thetimes-tribune.com - The Times-Tribune

The following is one of several articles on Senator Joe Biden's visit to Scranton. The visit was an attempt to gain votes locally. Some referenced his schooling at St. Paul's in an effort to convince Catholics that Biden is a man of faith.

However, Biden's pro-abortion voting record and his relationship with the National Abortion Rights Action League should prove that Biden's faith is clearly not Roman Catholic in practice. Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, issued the following statement in response to Obama's selection of Joe Biden as his running mate. "Sen. Biden has consistently expressed support for a woman's right to choose (abortion)...."we have a longstanding relationship with Sen. Biden that is open, positive, and constructive, and we are confident this will continue in a new administration under Sen. Obama's pro-choice leadership."

"Most notably, Sen. Biden has a strong record of opposing judicial nominees with hostile anti-choice records. He voted against George W. Bush's two anti-choice nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court, John Roberts and Samuel Alito, and he opposed anti-choice Justice Clarence Thomas' nomination to the Court as well as multiple anti-choice nominees to lower federal courts."
Remember folks, the choice Keenan is talking about here is the choice of a women to abort her child at any statge of development.

Bishop Martino of Scranton is certainly aware that Senator Biden is a proponent of the abortion culture.(See following article)

If you can stomach the mushey stuff from the Times: "Mr. Biden, who was born at Mercy Hospital, remembers standing against the edge of a kitchen doorway so his mother could measure his height. He remembers his Aunt Gertie Finnegan lived in the attic, her rice pudding and the way she could scratch away an itchy back.

He told the story of how his Irish Catholic mother, the former Catherine Eugenia Finnegan, urged him to go back into the alley behind the home, Dimmick Avenue, and punch in the nose a boy who knocked him down, as his father taught him. When he did that, the boy’s friends scattered, he said." Times story continues:‘I Am Home, Joe Biden, 9•1•08’ with photo gallery | News | thetimes-tribune.com - The Times-Tribune:
Someone ought to tell the Times being born of an Irish Catholic mother may make someone half Irish, but it does not necessarily make them Catholic.

Scranton Bishop Says He will Refuse Communion to Joseph Biden

From Life Site News: "The Times reports that 'when asked whether the Democratic vice presidential candidate would be refused Communion should he tour the region, the diocese held firm' to a statement made by Bishop Joseph F. Martino in 2005 declaring that he would not 'tolerate any politician who claims to be a faithful Catholic who is not genuinely pro-life' receiving Holy Communion. The LifeSite article continues:Scranton Bishop Says He will Refuse Communion to Joseph Biden:

'No Catholic politician who supports the culture of death should approach Holy Communion,' said Bishop Martino, who added, 'I will be truly vigilant on this point.'"

California plans to drug depressed patients to death

In California, "'AB 2747 allows a physician assistant or a nurse to opine that a patient is 'terminal,' and then push for unnatural death by 'palliative sedation,'' said Randy Thomasson, chief of the Campaign for Children and Families shortly after the vote.
'Depressed patients who succumb to this pressure will be drugged unconscious and die from dehydration, usually within five to 10 days. Nothing in the bill prohibits this horror,' he said.
Forty-two Democrats in California voted in favor of the plan: 30 Republicans and two Democrats opposed the plan." Continued here: California plans to drug depressed patients to death:

Sarah Palin Develops Strong Pro-Life Record on Abortion as Alaska Governor

As the governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin hasn't had many opportunities to address the issue of abortion, but she has promoted a pro-life position when given the opportunity. Palin has appeared to have an attitude focusing on getting pro-life measures approved but making sure they're done right.
The Alaska legislature approved a parental consent bill to help parents know when their minor children are considering an abortion and to give them the ability to veto the abortion."

In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the “bridge to nowhere” that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars."

Text: Biden's speech at Democratic National Convention | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com

Delaware Senator Joe Biden's speech at the DNC was rather lackluster.
He said of Obama:
"I watched how he touched people, how he inspired them, and I realized he has tapped into the oldest American belief of all: We don't have to accept a situation we cannot bear. We have the power to change it. That's Barack Obama, and that's what he will do for this country. He'll change it."

Cirba: EEK! Here we go again change, change, change! What is so unbearable about living in the United States of American? Why do the Democrat leaders hate this country as they do?
Canadians, the British and probably others with systems of socialized medicine come here for the best health care in the world. Mexicans and others south of our border come here, some legally and some illegally, for jobs and a better education for their children.
We have a system of highways connecting every state...opportunities for higher education for our children... what is it Obama wants to change and why won't he tell us?

The only thing that needs to be changed is America's policy of abortion-on-demand and high taxation. Obama and Biden with their 100% approval ratings from the National Abortion Rights Action League and their socialist leanings will not change either.

Bob Casey at the DNC and Transcript

Quotes from Bob Casey at Democrat National Convention: "In a time of danger around the world and economic trouble here at home, I know that Barack Obama will lead us, heal us and help us rebuild the country we love. I know this because I know Barack Obama."
Cirba: As a Catholic you should know better Senator Casey, Jesus Christ will heal our nation, not Senator Obama.

Try again Bob:
"So now let us work together, with a leader who, as Lincoln said, appeals to the better angels of our nature."
Cirba: Better angels? That would mean perhaps that he inspires us to be better than we are, to do noble things???
Reality check:

A tiny preborn baby has just survived an abortion attempt. She raises weak, pathetic cries and gasps for breath.....What would Barack Obama do? Traditional medicine at one time would do everything to save the life of that newborn child.
When we consider Obama helped block a bill (three times)that was designed solely to protect the life of infants already born in Illinois' version of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, he has in effect voted to let babies who survive abortion attempts die.
Don't believe me? Please read the previous posts referencing articles by Paul Kengor and Pat Buchannan. Obama is not likely to inspire anyone to sacrifice for the benefit of others.

A final quote from Senator Casey, "Barack Obama and I have an honest disagreement on the issue of abortion. But the fact that I’m speaking here tonight is testament to Barack’s ability to show respect for the views of people who may disagree with him."
Cirba: I'd rather have Senator Obama show some respect for the infants who survive abortion and afford them the rights they deserve.

Respect for the views of people who disagree? I suppose that's why the Denver police arrested a hundred protesters outside the DNC Tuesday evening. (Not pro-lifers by the way.)

Paul Kengor & Jarrett Skorup on Barack Obama & Born Alive Infant Protection Act on National Review Online

"In both 2000 and 2004, it was the so-called moral-religious “values voters” who were crucial to the election of George W. Bush. It is no secret that the Democrats want those voters in 2008. Barack Obama wants them badly. What stands in his way? For Obama, the problem is not so much the Reverend Jeremiah Wright as it is the issue of abortion — consistently the dominant political-social issue in the eyes of conservative Christians, from evangelical Protestants to devout Catholics. Obama’s abortion problem is a reality that has become especially evident in recent weeks, most notably in his public battle with Focus on the Family’s James Dobson."
When Obama voted on the question of what to do with babies who survived an abortion attempt he voted for infanticide and against the Illinois version of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act. Visit:
