ABORTION PILL REVERSAL
Friday, April 26, 2013

Human Exceptionalism | National Review Online
"For four decades, Hillcrest Clinic – South Hampton Roads’ first medical facility devoted to providing legal abortions – defied efforts to close its doors. That run ends Saturday. Virginia’s new licensing standards for abortion clinics, coupled with a drop in demand for pregnancy terminations, have driven the clinic out of business.
This is win-win. Pro choicers can point out that the “rare” part of “safe, legal, and rare” seems to be moving forward in Norfolk. As for the new rules, they require abortion clinics to be regulated like out-patient surgical centers. Isn’t that what they are? "

Pennsylvania House OKs Bill to Stop Abortion Funding in Obamacare | LifeNews.com
"The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed House Bill 818 on Tuesday, supporting the Commonwealth’s longstanding policy of not using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions.
“The legislation is in line with the restriction on public funding of abortion present in Pennsylvania’s landmark Abortion Control Act. It’s a long-standing policy that works,” said Maria Gallagher, legislative director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation. “We applaud House members – Republicans and Democrats, women and men – who have followed the will of the people in passing this critical bill.”"

Explosion hits fertilizer plant north of Waco, Texas - CNN.com
"An explosion ripped through a fertilizer plant Wednesday night in West Texas, causing dozens of injuries, officials said.
A hospital in Waco, Texas, has been told to anticipate 100 injured people coming in from the fertilizer plant area, an official at the medical facility said. Glenn Robinson, CEO of Hillcrest Hospital, said a field triage station was being set up on a football field near the plant some 18 miles north of Waco after the Wednesday night explosion.
"We have had a steady flow of patients coming in by ambulance as well as by private vehicles," Robinson told CNN's Anderson Cooper. He said more than a dozen injured people had been brought in by ambulances and "more than 20 -- that number is continuing to climb -- by private vehicle.""

Stem Cell treatment trials -Pilot and Feasibility Study of Reduced-Intensity Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant for MonoMAC - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov
Pilot and Feasibility Study of Reduced-Intensity Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant for MonoMAC - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov: "Stem cells are immature blood cells that grow in the bone marrow and produce all of the cells needed for normal blood and immunity. Stem cells can be taken from one person (donor) and given to another person (recipient) through allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Donor stem cells can then replace the recipient's stem cells in the bone marrow, restoring normal blood production and immunity. Most allogeneic transplants now use stem cells collected from the donor's blood in a process called peripheral blood stem cell transplantation.
MonoMAC is an immunodeficiency disease that is characterized by a lack of monocytes, a type of white blood cell, and an increased risk of developing mycobacteria infections that may cause tuberculosis.
Allogeneic stem cell transplantation has been used successfully to treat many kinds of immune diseases and cancers that develop in blood or immune system cells. Researchers have been studying a particular kind of stem cell transplantation that uses lower than usual doses of chemotherapy and particular combinations of drugs to improve the results of the procedure for patients with blood-related cancers and pre-cancerous conditions."
BACKGROUND:
BACKGROUND:
Mutations in GATA2 lead to an immunodeficiency disease that transforms intomyelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). This syndrome, previously known as MonoMAC, has 4 clinical features: 1) infections with Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) and other opportunistic infections as a teenager or young adult, 2) a peripheral blood leukocyte flow cytometry profile with Tlymphocytes, but a severe deficiency of monocytes, B-lymphocytes, and Natural Killer (NK) cells, 3) the propensity to progress to MDS/AML, and 4) mutations in the gene GATA2. In this pilot study we propose to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a reduced intensity allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) regimen for patients with mutations in GATA2. We are particularly interested in determining whether allogeneic HSCT using this regimen reconstitutes normal hematopoiesis in patients with mutations in GATA2. (Some details omitted here but click on link at beginning of post foooooor additional details..)
OBJECTIVES:
Primary Objective:
- To determine efficacy, namely whether reduced-intensity allogeneic HSCT results in engraftment and restores normal hematopoiesis by day +100 in patients with mutations in GATA2.
- To determine the safety of this HSCT regimen in patients with mutations in GATA2, including transplant related toxicity, the incidence of acute and chronic graft-versushost disease, immune reconstitution, overall survival, and disease-free survival

Tom Ridge: Unindicted Co-conspirator | RedState
"Not only did Ridge stop inspections of abortion “clinics” he tacitly allowed late term abortions to be performed in violation of Pennsylvania’s Abortion Control Act. In the case of Gosnell, Ridge’s administration was presented with more than ample opportunity to shut him down and refused to do so. Again from the grand jury report:
Indeed, in many ways State had more damning information than anyone else. Almost a decade ago, a former employee of Gosnell presented the Board of Medicine with a complaint that laid out the whole scope of his operation: the unclean, unsterile conditions; the unlicensed workers; the unsupervised sedation; the underage abortion patients; even the over-prescribing of pain pills with high resale value on the street. The department assigned an investigator, whose investigation consisted primarily of an offsite interview with Gosnell. " Visit:

Rep. Barletta Supports Bill & Religious Freedom - Would Relieve Employers from Taxes if they Object Under Religious Grounds -
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, PA-11, today endorsed legislation that would prohibit the federal government from levying a tax on employers for exercising their religious and moral beliefs by not complying with federal mandates under Obamacare. According to a Congressional Research Service report, insurers and employers that do not comply with mandates from Health and Human Services could face a federal tax of $100 per day per employee, or $36,500 a year per employee.
“We are a nation that was founded on the independence of religious thought,” said Rep. Barletta. “For the federal government to impose rules that run afoul of this is unconscionable.”
The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, leaves intact an assault to religious freedom, in that it leaves in place the controversial HHS mandate that requires employers to provide drugs and services in their employee health care plans, regardless of religious and moral objections to those services. The decision also leaves intact one of the largest tax increases on the American public through the individual mandate tax and various other taxes tucked away in dark corners of the law.
“The most unreported part of Obamacare is that unelected bureaucrats are inflicting their views onto American citizens,” Barletta said. “Invading religious rights is the worst part of it. It has to stop. And it has to stop now.”-30-

Top doctor's chilling claim: The NHS kills off 130,000 elderly patients every year | Mail Online
"NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds, a senior consultant claimed yesterday.
Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly.
He claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country." Visit:

Family Cord Blood Banking | Free Services Based on Need | CBR®
I have long been a proponent of saving and banking a child's umbilical cord stem cells. Some may find it expensive, but I think of it as an insurance policy against a serious disease your child (or grandchild) may develop. Now CBR (Cord Blood Registry) has developed a program to assist those with serious needs.
One of the qualifications for the program is if a family member:
"Has been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease currently treatable with a donor stem cell transplant"
From the CBR web site:
"Studies have shown that cord blood stem cell transplants from a related donor have better survival rates than unrelated stem cell transplants, with fewer serious complications."
Our Newborn Possibilities Program provides free access to genetically related donor stem cells to those families who qualify for the Designated Treatment Protocol.
Over 3,500 patients have participated in our Newborn Possibilities Program, which offers families free collection,* processing, and five years of storage. All families residing in the United States who meet the qualification criteria may apply." For the list of qualification criteria visit:

New Pope Francis Called Abortion the "Death Penalty for the Unborn" | LifeNews.com
"The archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, has been selected to become the next Pope, leading the Catholic Church. Like his predecessors, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II, he is a staunch pro-life advocate when it comes to abortion.
He once called abortion a “death sentence” for unborn children, during a 2007 speech and likening opposition to abortion to opposition to the death penalty." Visit:

According to most reports, Cardinal Bergoglio came in second during the 2005 balloting that ultimately elected Benedict XVI. He is 76-years-old and the Jesuit is said to highly regard simplicity and humility and would encourage priests to engage in evangelical pursuits to rebuild the Catholic Church." Visit:

Sen. Coburn gives tribute to chief-of-staff Michael Schwartz
Michael Schwartz, a longtime pro-life advocate and chief of staff to Senator Tom Coburn died recently of ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease at age 63. Michael was a devout Catholic and defender of the family. He came to speak to Scranton area pro-lifers in 1990 at the annual Respect Life Prayer Breakfast sponsored by Pennsylvanians for Human Life. Senator Tom Coburn gave a beautiful tribute to Michael Schwartz on the floor of the Senate when Michael's ailment made it impossible for him to continue to work on Capitol Hill.

University of Chicago performing abortions on campus
"On the official website, the school’s Ryan Center Clinic advertises “comprehensive health care for women seeking abortion services” and lists multiple procedures students may undergo.
It is not unusual for schools to provide contraception or referrals to abortion clinics to students, but UC appears to be one of the only universities in the nation to perform the controversial procedure on campus."
