Pro-life Candidates Victorious in Pennsylvania

It came at 12:30 am on Nov. 3, the concession speech by Joe Sestak and the Victory speech of Pat Toomey, the new junior Senator from Pennsylvania. The Toomey-Sestak race was a nail-biter, the announcement coming after much earlier announcements of Tom Corbett's victory as Governor. In northeast PA, Lou Barletta won the Eleventh Congressional District seat over 26-year incumbent Paul Kanjorski and Tom Marino beating two-term Congressman Chris Carney in the Tenth Congressional district.
It was a clean sweep for pro-life Republicans!
Pro-life Toomey beat Sestak who was endorsed by the National Abortion Rights Action League. Tom Marino beat Congressman Carney who voted for Obama's health care law that contains no abortion restrictions. Carney had a poor scorecard from National Right to Life's PAC.
It was Lou Barletta's third run against Congressman Paul Kanjorski. Kanjorski chose to side with Obama's pro-abortion agenda and his health care fiasco. Seniors who lost their Medicare Advantage plans were not fooled by the Obama Health Care laws raid on Medicare and Kanjorski's attempt to trivialize it.

Dick Morris to address Pennsylvania Leadership Conference April 16

Taking Back Our State and Nation

Conservative activists to gather April 16-17 for 2010 PA Leadership Conference
(Harrisburg, PA) - Activists from across the state will gather April 16th and 17th for the 21st annual Pennsylvania Leadership Conference. The premiere annual gathering for conservatives each year, the 2010 conference will focus on the nuts and bolts of building winning coalitions, activist training, issue education, and networking.

"The past year has seen a dramatic rise in citizen participation in government and politics," said Lowman S. Henry, President of the Pennsylvania Leadership Council. "But, the time has come to capture the energy generated from TEA rallies and other similar events and put it into action. That is where the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference comes in - this is the place where activists new and veteran, young and old, regardless of the issues that interest them, can meet their fellow activists from across the state, be trained by top campaign operatives, learn more about the issues from policy experts, and hear from prominent national and statewide speakers."

Leading the list of featured speakers is Fox News analyst and best-selling author Dick Morris. Morris will speak at the conference's main dinner event along with U.S. Senatorial candidate Pat Toomey. Featured speakers include Kellyanne Conway of the Polling Company, Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forum, Human Events political editor John Gizzi, Tim Phillips of Americans for Prosperity, state house Republican Whip Mike Turzai, along with gubernatorial candidates Tom Corbett and Sam Rohrer.

This year's issue panels include: Polishing the Apple: Improving Public Education moderated by Simon Campbell of Stop Teacher Strikes; State Spending: Going for Broke moderated by Gene Barr of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry; Building a Coalition that Wins with WSBA-AM talk show host Gary Sutton as moderator; Beyond Corruption: Transparency, Accountability and Reform moderated by columnist Chris Friend; and Michael Geer of the Pennsylvania Family Institute will moderate a panel entitled Marriage and More.

A three-hour campaign training workshop facilitated by Ryan Shafik of Rockwood Strategies and Ned Ryun of American Majority will kick-off the conference. A record number of nearly 50 organizations will exhibit at the conference, which will also include a book signing opportunity with Dick Morris and Pat Toomey.

The 2010 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference is open to the public. Individual registration is $85.00, double registrations are $150.00. Registration for the conference includes admission to the Friday evening dinner, Saturday morning breakfast, Saturday luncheon, all panel presentations, workshops and the exhibit area. The only separately ticketed part of the event is the pre-dinner reception with Dick Morris. Reception tickets are an additional $100.00 fee.

Complete information, the conference agenda, and registration for the 2010 Pennsylvania Leadership Conference is available on the conference web site: www.paleadershipconference.org.

Ted Meehan Comments on the GOP's attempt to recruit Ridge for Senate

Since Arlen Specter returned to the party of his origin, the Democrat Party, party members have tossed around the idea that Tom Ridge would run for the U.S. Senate. It prompted Ted Meehan to comment:

"The recruitment of Tom Ridge into the upcoming Senate primary will serve little purpose other than to promote a vitriolic internal battle in the GOP.
The departure of Arlen Specter was prompted by his certainty that he could not win a Republican primary, and that the Republican Party is a collection of extremist lunatics.
My expectation is that he will find more extremist lunatics in the party he just joined, and he will not even survive the primary in that party."

"In 1991, after John Heinz’s death, Governor Casey appointed Harris Wofford to fill that Senate seat. A special election was held, and the GOP “leadership” discouraged all comers to clear the field for a “sure thing” – Dick Thornburgh, who – they told us – would easily win the seat back. The popular former Governor lost in a landslide. Wofford, it was thought, was invincible after that election."

"But in the wake of that campaign, Rick Santorum sought the Republican nomination for a chance at Wofford. Santorum had won his seat in a predominantly Democrat area, even after his district was gerrymandered. As he gained strength, the party elders became concerned. One leader said, “He is way too conservative to get elected in Pennsylvania.” So the party reached out to Barbara Hafer, and Teresa Heinz. But, Santorum took the endorsement at State Committee. Santorum beat the 'invincible' Wofford. He also won in 2000 bucking George Bush’s loss of the state to Al Gore.'

"With the defection of Arlen Specter, Pat Toomey, "A former Congressman who had handily won three terms in a predominantly Democrat district has become the front runner." The party leadership ....is "seeking a popular former Governor to be the “sure thing”, because “Toomey is (supposedly) way too conservative to be elected in Pennsylvania.” Sound familiar? Toomey evokes passion, and is building a movement which will take back the seat. The voters and Grassroots are the proper arbiters of which candidates will represent them best. The “leaders” in Washington and Harrisburg would do well to listen to the base, and stop trying to reinvent the GOP in the image of the Democrats."

"Only a little over two years ago, the Democrats decided they couldn’t win in Pennsylvania unless they ran a pro-life, blue collar Catholic from Scranton. Now, suddenly, the GOP is deciding that it cannot win in Pennsylvania unless it runs a pro-choice moderate. Had the Democrats taken this course, Santorum would still be our Republican Senator. So, please stop this obscene effort to undermine Pat Toomey. He is going to be the GOP candidate – whether or not Ridge gets into the race. If you’re not willing to help, then get out of the way." Arlen Specter's party-swapping | Party-hopping | The Economist

"Mr Specter faced a strong challenge in next year’s Republican primary from Patrick Toomey, a fierce conservative who has been ahead of him in the polls by some 20 points, buoyed by white-hot Republican fury at the Obama administration and generously financed by the low-tax, minimal-government lobby, the Club for Growth. And even if he had survived Mr Toomey’s onslaught, he would then have had to perform the difficult trick of moving back to the centre to beat a Democrat. Why subject himself to trial by fire when he could simply switch party?" visit:
Arlen Specter's party-swapping | Party-hopping | The Economist:
Sue Cirba: I don't read the Economist often enough to be familiar with the political leanings of individual authors, but what boggles the mind is the way this author blames Pat Toomey for Specter's defection. Let's instead blame Specter's Machiavellian move on the sort of supreme arrogance that makes Specter care only for himself and democracy be damned! Or perhaps we can blame a certain President G.W.Bush whose support made Specter's last term in office possible.
Rather than a problem, Pat Toomey seems to be the perfect candidate for this political season. In the Obama era of outrageous spending Toomey's committment to
fiscal responsibility is what the nation needs.
