Arlen Specter's party-swapping | Party-hopping | The Economist

"Mr Specter faced a strong challenge in next year’s Republican primary from Patrick Toomey, a fierce conservative who has been ahead of him in the polls by some 20 points, buoyed by white-hot Republican fury at the Obama administration and generously financed by the low-tax, minimal-government lobby, the Club for Growth. And even if he had survived Mr Toomey’s onslaught, he would then have had to perform the difficult trick of moving back to the centre to beat a Democrat. Why subject himself to trial by fire when he could simply switch party?" visit:
Arlen Specter's party-swapping | Party-hopping | The Economist:
Sue Cirba: I don't read the Economist often enough to be familiar with the political leanings of individual authors, but what boggles the mind is the way this author blames Pat Toomey for Specter's defection. Let's instead blame Specter's Machiavellian move on the sort of supreme arrogance that makes Specter care only for himself and democracy be damned! Or perhaps we can blame a certain President G.W.Bush whose support made Specter's last term in office possible.
Rather than a problem, Pat Toomey seems to be the perfect candidate for this political season. In the Obama era of outrageous spending Toomey's committment to
fiscal responsibility is what the nation needs.

David Limbaugh - Obama Appoints Leader of Faith Based Programs

Harry Knox was named to Obama's Advisory Council on Faith Based Programs. Knox was director of the Human Rights Campaign "Working for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and transgendered Equal Rights". David Limbaugh has written and article on the Knox appointment:

"Many were delighted when Obama decided to continue with the program. But with the Knox appointment and other similar ones, we have to question whether Obama is shifting the focus of the group while retaining its innocuous-sounding name. Obama has been stacking the 25-member board with like-minded leftists inclined to allocate its funds to liberal, secular causes.

Knox is the militant homosexual activist who, just last month, called Pope Benedict XVI and certain Catholic bishops 'discredited leaders' for opposing same-sex marriage. He said the Knights of Columbus are 'foot soldiers of a discredited army of oppression' because they supported California's Proposition 8 ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman." THE OBAMA DOCTRINE - New York Post

"AFTER a mere 100 days, the 'Obama Doctrine' for our foreign and security poli cies has emerged. And it's terrifying.
The combination of dizzying naivete, dislike of our allies, disdain for our military, distrust of our intelligence services and distaste for our own country promises the worst foreign policy of our lifetimes." Visit:

The Washington Independent » Chris Lilik of Grassroots PA Comments on Specter Switch

"Specter spent several months attempting to win over the base, experiencing slightly more success in Washington than in Pennsylvania by declaring his opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act and introducing (for the second time in two years) a flat tax reform bill. According to Chris Lilik, the editor of the conservative Pennsylvania Website GrassrootsPA.com and 2004 Toomey campaign staffer, Specter hadn’t been gaining ground with that strategy. Lilik pointed to Specter’s statements Tuesday about not wanting to “face the jury” of the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate as proof.
“There were so many issues he just wasn’t smart about,” said Lilik. “”It’s really unfair to blame conservatives for this. His problems with the base were all self-inflicted. He did this to himself.”" Visit:
The Washington Independent » Specter Switch Gives Conservatives Second Thoughts About ‘RINO’ Hunting: Sue Cirba: I applaud Chris Lilik for all he's accomplished with Grassroots PA. I included this article mainly to feature Mr. Lilik. I do not agree with the tone of the article that conservatives are having "second thoughts" about Specter leaving the GOP. True conservatives are celebrating.

Using Stem Cells in Teeth for Future Use in Developing Medical Treatments

"Aside from being the most convenient stem cells to access, dental stem cells have significant medical benefits in the development of new medical therapies. Using one's own stem cells for medical treatment means a much lower risk of rejection by the body and decreases the need for powerful drugs that weaken the immune system, both of which are negative but typical realities that come into play when tissues or cells from a donor are used to treat patients.
Further, the stem cells from teeth have been observed in research studies to be among the most powerful stem cells in the human body. Stem cells from teeth replicate at a faster rate and for a longer period of time than do stem cells harvested from other tissues of the body." Visit:

Presidential Poison, The Wall Street Journal

"Mark down the date. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, is the moment that any chance of a new era of bipartisan respect in Washington ended. By inviting the prosecution of Bush officials for their antiterror legal advice, President Obama has injected a poison into our politics that he and the country will live to regret" Visit:

The President at Georgetown: Did this Catholic University Deny the Faith? - Catholic Online

"What occurred at Georgetown University is one of those symbolic moments in history which speaks beyond any single incident. The administration literally covered over the Cross of Christ and the “I.H.S.”, both of which were engraved on the backdrop against which the President spoke on the Gaston Hall stage. The reaction to this censorship of Christian signs at a Catholic University was immediate. The associate Vice President of Communications of Georgetown gave her spin: 'In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday's event, Georgetown honored the White House staff's request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage… The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they've done for other policy speeches… Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn't high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context.'" Visit:
The President at Georgetown: Did this Catholic University Deny the Faith? - Catholic Online: Cirba: It seems to me that anyone who would order the coveringof a cross and IHS at a Catholic university, or anyone who defends it such as their "Associate Vice President of Communications" should be fired. Of course that will never happen, but readers can go to the Georgetown University web site,

But in addition to those campaign donations, records reviewed by The Associated Press show that Tiller gave at least $23,000 more from 2000-2002 to a political action committee Sebelius established while insurance commissioner to raise money for fellow Democrats." Visit:

From the Pittsburgh Tribune Review 1,000 attend TEA Party. the article includes two sidebar photo shows.
"About 1,000 people turned out for an anti-tax demonstration in Market Square today.
The message of the 'Tea Party' was simple, with many people carrying signs or chanting slogans in opposition of taxes and government spending on the deadline for filing federal taxes.
'It's an anti-big-government rally,' said Jerry Smith, 51, of Hampton. 'The main focus is spending and taxing, and neither party has distinguished itself from wanting to limit this.'"
