A lawsuit was filed against Missouri State University School of Social Work Professor Frank Kauffman by Emily Brooker. Brooker refused an assignment to lobby for homosexual adoption as it violated her religious beliefs. Brooker was charged with violating the program's Code of Ethics. She filed a lawsuit and won. Afterward, an investigation of the School of Social Work was comissioned by the University 's Provost. University President Michael Nietzel wrote concerning the report, "Their evaluation of our Social Work Program is extraordinarily negative. In fact, it is as negative a review of an academic program as I have ever seen."
