Disability Community Loses a Hero By Dr. Mark Mostert

Alison Davis, champion of the disability community and unfailing exemplar of a life
well lived, died early on December 3, 2013.

Born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, Alison also bravely dealt with several
other serious chronic debilitating conditions that left her in constant severe pain.

Several decades before her death Alison despaired of ever escaping her disabilities,
contemplating and eventually attempting suicide several times.

However, she was eventually persuaded that suicide was not the answer by her full
time personal assistant, Colin Harte, and it was on a 1995 trip to India that Alison,
after witnessing the severe plight of the Indian poor, decided that she had
something to live for – helping those who, like her, had disabilities.

Alison was an ardent advocate against assisted suicide and euthanasia, making the
cogent point that had they been feely available during her darkest times, she would
ended her life – a life that despite her disabilities turned out to be filled with
immense joy and wonder at all the good things she was privileged to experience.

From 1982 until her death she served as the National coordinator of No Less
Human, an arm of the UK’s Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.

By the time I met Alison in Rome in 2004, I was well aware of her remarkable status
as a defender of all people with disabilities. I recall many wonderful moments as we
attended meetings of the Pontifical Academy for Life at the Vatican and on
sightseeing jaunts around the city.

It was, however, a simple dinner that several of us shared at a restaurant in the
shadows of St. Peter’s that leaves me with my most enduring memory of Alison.
Clearly in pain and tired after a long day, she was indefatigably positive, cheerful,
and funny. We chuckled about her characteristic little wave, which reminded me of
the Royal wave of Queen Elizabeth. Alison liked the royal comparison.

That dinner in Rome said all that needed to be said about Alison: She was defined by
her joy of life, by love, given and received, and by her extraordinary care for others.
Her medical disabilities didn’t define her, they were things that needed to be bent to
her will for a life well lived.

And a life well lived is exactly what Alison accomplished.

Dr. Mark Mostert is the Director of the Center for Disability in the Public Square
for the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network and serves as a member of their
Board of Directors.

One Million Babies Have Died in South Africa Since Nelson Mandela Legalized Abortion | LifeNews.com

"The world mourns the passing of Nelson Mandela the civil rights leader and former President of South Africa. It is fitting that we should respect and applaud his untiring struggle for civil rights and for his leadership in bringing about reconciliation in South Africa.

In paying tribute to his many achievements as President between 1994 to 1999 we must not forget that he did not uphold the sanctity of life of children in the womb. The sanctity of human life and the dignity of the family are the foundation and guarantee of all other human rights. It is not possible to be a human rights crusader if one fails to uphold the human rights of the unborn"  Visit:

James Dobson Files Lawsuit Against Obamacare's HHS-Abortion Pill Mandate | LifeNews.com

"Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the Obama administration on behalf of Dr. James Dobson and his “Family Talk” radio show and ministry, a Christian non-profit organization that is currently subject to Obamacare’s abortion pill mandate.

The lawsuit challenges the legality and constitutionality of the mandate, which requires religious employers to provide insurance coverage for abortifacients, sterilization, and contraception to employees regardless of religious or moral objections"  Visit:

Priests for Life to Have its Day in Court!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact:  Leslie Palma
347-286-7277

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Priest for Life’s legal challenge to the HHS mandate will be on the
docket Monday in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.

Priests for Life’s attorneys from the American Freedom Law Center and attorneys for the
Obama administration are asking the court to decide on the constitutionality of the HHS mandate.

Plaintiffs in the case are Priests for Life as well as individual plaintiffs Fr. Frank Pavone,
Janet Morana, and Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Priests for Life contends that forcing the ministry to authorize coverage for contraception,
abortifacient drugs and sterilization services to the participants and beneficiaries of its
healthcare plan is a violation of its constitutional right to religious freedom and of the
Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

“With this mandate contained in the Affordable Care Act, the government is not only
violating our religious beliefs; they are also taking it upon themselves to tell us what
the boundaries of those religious beliefs are. It is not up to the government to tell us when
our conscience hurts; on the contrary, it's up to us as believers to tell the government."

Father Pavone is confident in the outcome of this case, and the judgment, which is
expected before January 1, when the Priests for Life insurance plan is renewed,
could be among the very first judgments rendered for religious non-profits on the
merits of the arguments.

According to Robert Muise, American Freedom Law Center co-founder and senior counsel,
“The question for the court on Monday is not whether compliance with the contraception
mandate can be reconciled with the teachings of the Catholic Church. That’s a question of
religious conscience for the plaintiffs, and they have concluded that their legal and religious
obligations are incompatible. Consequently, the contraception mandate forces them to do
what their religion tells them they must not do in direct violation of the First Amendment and
the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.”

Father Pavone and Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests for Life, will travel to D.C.
Monday to be in the courtroom and will be available for comment.

As he has said since filing the initial lawsuit in February 2012 – the fourth to be filed
against the mandate – Father Pavone reiterated that, regardless of the judge’s findings,
“We will not obey this mandate. We do not adapt to injustice. We oppose it.”  Visit:

We Must Help Mothers With Disabled Unborn Children Facing Abortion Pressure | LifeNews.com

"You’ve probably heard the statistic before that as many as 90 percent of unborn children diagnosed with Down Syndrome become victims of abortion. This is partly due to the fact that mothers and fathers of such unborn babies face enormous pressure to have an abortion.

Whether the pressure comes from the doctor himself, family, or society, it has resulted in the destruction of people simple because they are somewhat different from everyone else. Gerard Nadal, a pro-life geneticist, is taking it upon himself to do something about it. He is collecting stories from women and parents facing such pressure — so pro-life people can push back against it."  Visit:  We Must Help Mothers With Disabled Unborn Children Facing Abortion Pressure | LifeNews.com:

Save the Pandas AND (Children with) Down syndrome

Kurt Kondrich writes:  "I think pandas are amazing creatures, and it would be a real tragedy if these mammals were to become extinct. My amazing 10 year old daughter Chloe who has Down syndrome is also an endangered mammal species with a 90%+ termination rate once identified prenatally in the womb habitat. Mammals that have Down syndrome have a unique genetic code, and they bring incalculable amounts of joy, love and purity into our culture. They are also, like the panda, a species we cannot allow to become extinct. Rapid advances in genetic testing may make it possible one day to identify and eliminate any human mammals our society views as "defective" or "imperfect," and this could usher in the extinction of many priceless people."  Visit:  Save the Pandas AND Down syndrome:

Massachusetts Rationing Shows What’s Coming to America Under Obamacare | LifeNews.com

"We repeatedly said that without an adequate, sustainable funding mechanism to pay for the entitlement, the state would wind up imposing limits on treatment – rationing.
By 2010, facing a mounting gap between the cost of subsidies and the available revenue, Governor Deval Patrick sent a bill to the state legislature with sweeping measures to limit what Massachusetts citizens would be allowed to spend to save the lives of their family members.
The law ultimately enacted that year authorized Massachusetts to limit what individuals and those employed by small businesses were allowed to spend for their health care.  VISIT:

"A more sweeping Massachusetts bill was enacted in 2012, extending controls to all nongovernmental health care spending. It sets ceilings on what Massachusetts residents are allowed to spend on health care so that between 2018 and 2023, health care spending is to be held below state economic growth by .5 %, a limit drastically below the rate of medical inflation. Two Texas Abortion Restrictions Overturned By Federal Court, 20-Week Ban Unaffected | National Review Online

Two Texas Abortion Restrictions Overturned By Federal Court, 20-Week Ban Unaffected | National Review Online: "A federal judge ruled that some of Texas’s abortion restrictions recently signed into law by Governor Rick Perry are unconstitutional, and enforcement of the measures has been blocked. The ban on abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy, which hasn’t been challenged, will still go ahead.

Judge Lee Yeakel wrote in his decision that requiring that doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals constitutes an “undue burden” on women seeking abortion and doesn’t bear a “rational relationship” to the state’s right to regulate such practices. "

Obama in Scranton

Ho-hum!  Obama makes another appearance in Scranton.  This time he announces the beginning of the take over of the colleges and universities  under the guise of keeping college costs down - Yeah, just like he's saving us money on insurance premiums with Obamacare.  Of course the ill-informed Scrantonians who attended the event cheered at the thought of repaying loans as a percentage of money they are making.  Don't they realize the less you pay on your loans, the more you have to pay in interest? How about real jobs as a solution to paying college debt?  You know, the kind that give you a 40 hour work week or more and insurance paid by your employer?  Oops!  Silly, me, Obamacare got rid of that kind of a job.

Anyway what Obama's rating system for colleges is sure to do over time is to deny students who attend Christian colleges government loans and grants.

Pro-lifers and patriots may want to know that at least 40 protesters greeted Obama as he came into Scranton with signs like Impeach Obama and Honk 2 impeach Obama.  Additional protesters were across town.  The positive response we received from persons driving by was very encouraging.  Don't expect to see any photos on the evening news.  I'll post some when I get photos.

As night fell, rioters ignored a curfew and called for protests to continue into next week. Coptic churches were set ablaze, security forces and backers of ousted President Mohammad Morsi exchanged gunfire and the day's death toll swelled past 60. The figure was well below the two-day toll of 638 for Wednesday and Thursday, but observers saw no signs of hope the bloodshed would end anytime soon."

In addition to other findings, the survey found the facility:
• Failed to maintain anesthesia (nitrous oxide gas) delivery systems in good working condition, with torn masks and tubing held together with tape. The Obama administration is “changing names” of the Benghazi survivors and “creating aliases” to keep them hidden from congressional investigators and the American people, Rep. Gowdy’s stunning claims were overshadowed by CNN’s bombshell report that revealed there were “dozens” of CIA operatives on the ground in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, the night of the deadly attack that killed four Americans. Independence Law Center » Lancaster County’s family-run wood component business appeals loss of religious liberty

Independence Law Center » Lancaster County’s family-run wood component business appeals loss of religious liberty  :The Independence Law Center sent the following e-mail:

8-2-13

Pa. family business asks full Third Circuit to protect religious freedom
Court of Appeals declined to halt enforcement of abortion pill mandate

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — The Independence Law Center representing the Mennonite-owned company, Conestoga Wood Specialties, Inc. has asked the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to rehear its case after a three judge panel of that court declined to halt enforcement of the Obama administration’s abortion pill mandate.

The case, Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp. v. Sebelius, involves a mandate by the federal government that all employee health insurance plans include coverage for FDA approved contraception. Consistent with the FDA labeling, however, many of these forms of contraception work to change the lining of the uterus so that an embryo could be destroyed after conception. For the Hahn family, Mennonites from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the government mandate confronts a matter of religious faith since it would be contrary to their faith to in any way facilitate the taking of human life.

Charles W. Proctor, III is lead counsel in the case, together with Randall Wenger, chief counsel of the Independence Law Center, and attorney Matt Bowman of Alliance Defending Freedom.

“Americans should be free to live out their faith in all areas of life—including the way they run their business,” said Wenger. “We are hopeful that the Court of Appeals or eventually the Supreme Court will understand the critical importance of our right to live out our religious faith—and the heart-wrenching violation of conscience that it would be to the Hahns to deny them that right.”

“The religious liberty of Americans is not something that should be withheld or dispensed by the government as it arbitrarily sees fit,” added Proctor. “Instead, our Declaration of Independence makes it clear that the Hahn family and all Americans are ‘endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights’ and the free exercise of religion is the very first right enumerated in our Bill of Rights.”

This has been a hard fought journey for Conestoga Wood and the Hahns. They filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Dec. 4 of last year asserting that being forced to provide and pay for insurance that covers drugs and devices that could result in the death of an embryo is contrary to their religious convictions. The District Court denied a request for a Preliminary Injunction on January 11, so Conestoga Wood and the Hahns appealed on January 14 and moved for an injunction pending appeal on January 22, which was denied on February 7. A three judge panel of the Court Appeals ruled against them on July 26, and they filed a petition this week seeking reargument before the full Court.

Conestoga Wood and the Hahns join many other family run businesses around the country seeking injunctions to protect them from the abortion pill mandate.

The Independence Law Center is a pro-bono, non-profit law center in Pennsylvania focused on protecting religious liberty.

Union Letter: Obamacare Will ‘Destroy The Very Health and Wellbeing’ of Workers - Corporate Intelligence - WSJ

Three Union leaders, James P. Hoffa, (Teamsters), D. Taylor, (UNITE-HERE) and Joseph Hansen of UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers), wrote a letter to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid regarding major problems they have with The Affordable Care Act.  They expressed these concerns:
"First, the law creates an incentive for employers to keep employees’ work hours below 30 hours a week. Numerous employers have begun to cut workers’ hours to avoid this obligation, and many of them are doing so openly. The impact is two-fold: fewer hours means less pay while also losing our current health benefits."

"Second, millions of Americans are covered by non-profit health insurance plans like the ones in which most of our members participate. These non-profit plans are governed jointly by unions and companies under the Taft-Hartley Act. Our health plans have been built over decades by working men and women. Under the ACA as interpreted by the Administration, our employees will treated differently and not be eligible for subsidies afforded other citizens. As such, many employees will be relegated to second-class status and shut out of the help the law offers to for-profit insurance plans".

NY woman declared ‘brain dead’ woke up moments before organs harvested | LifeSiteNews.com

"SYRACUSE, NY, July 9, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A woman who was pronounced brain dead by doctors unexpectedly woke up just as her organs were about to be removed for transplant.

Doctors at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center were called on the carpet by the state Health Department for not properly determining if Colleen S. Burns was actually dead before they sought permission from her family to harvest her organs and scheduled the procedure.

Burns, 41, of Syracuse, New York, was taken to hospital in October 2009 after a drug overdose.
St. Joseph's Hospital Doctors believed she had suffered irreversible brain damage and was on the point of death, but it later came to light that she was in fact in a deep drug-induced coma."  Visit:

Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers Union Calls for Repeal of Obamacare - Roofers :: Political Action :: Hot Issues

Union President Kinsey M. Robinson in a Press Release dated April 16, 2013, calls for a repeal or complete reform of the Affordable Care Act stating

"our concerns over certain provisions in the ACA have not been addressed, or in some instances, totally ignored. In the rush to achieve its passage, many of the Act's provisions were not fully conceived, resulting in unintended consequences that are inconsistent with the promise that those who were satisfied with their employer sponsored coverage could keep it.

These provisions jeopardize our multi-employer health plans, have the potential to cause a loss of work for our members, create an unfair bidding advantage for those contractors who do not provide health coverage to their workers, and in the worst case, may cause our members and their families to lose the benefits they currently enjoy as participants in multi-employer health plans.  For the full Press Release visit:Roofers :: Political Action :: Hot Issues:

TEXAS ABORTION CENTER CLOSES - Press Release from David Bereit of 40 days for Life

HISTORIC ABORTION CENTER CLOSURE ANNOUNCED
Bryan/College Station, Texas -- The most significant
abortion center closure -- in the 40 years of legalized
abortion since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision
-- was made public today when Planned Parenthood Gulf
Coast, Inc. announced that it was shutting down its
abortion facility in Bryan/College Station, Texas after
fifteen tumultuous years in business.

In 2003, on the 30th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, ABC's
Nightline spotlighted pro-life efforts in Bryan/College
Station and said the community was "shaping the abortion
debate" in America. Since that time, the local Planned
Parenthood abortion facility gained worldwide notoriety as:
 * Site of the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in
2004, an effort that has since grown into a worldwide
pro-life mobilization of 575,000 volunteers in 501
cities around the globe; saving 7,536 babies from
abortion, closing 37 abortion centers, and helping 83
workers to quit their jobs in the abortion industry
 * Place where former abortion center director and
Planned Parenthood employee of the year Abby Johnson
experienced a conversion, quit her job, and became an
outspoken pro-life advocate, going on to found And
Then There Were None, a new ministry which has since
helped 60 other workers to leave the abortion
industry over the last year
 * Home of the Coalition for Life, the grassroots
organization which Planned Parenthood credited for
making the community "the most anti-choice place in
the nation" in which Planned Parenthood experienced
its "most consistent and active" opposition in the
nation

David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life,
said: "This is epic news fifteen years in the making!
Thousands of dedicated community members have faithfully
prayed and held peaceful vigils outside this abortion
center, offered hope and alternatives to turn away
prospective Planned Parenthood customers, and educated
the community about the harm of Planned Parenthood.
These efforts, combined with the decisive action of

closure that is an answer to prayer."

Shawn Carney, 40 Days for Life campaign director, said:
"As the birthplace of 40 Days for Life and the place
where Abby Johnson resigned after eight years working
for America's largest abortion chain, this is a huge
victory for the entire pro life movement! Peaceful and

looks like. Knowing that the former abortion clinic I
once ran is now closing is the biggest personal victory
of my life. From running that facility, to then advocating
for its closure, and now celebrating that dream ... it
shows that my life has indeed come full circle. I am
honored to have worked with so many who helped with my
conversion and the closure of this facility. We will
continue to fight until every abortion clinic in this

AG Won't Defend: We Deserve Better

AG Won't Defend: We Deserve Better l:
Attorney General Won't Defend Marriage: We, the people Deserve Better  (From the Pennsylvania Family Institute)
Harrisburg, PA) - The Pennsylvania Family Institute today expressed disappointment that Attorney General Kathleen Kane will not defend the Commonwealth’s marriage law against a lawsuit filed this week by the ACLU.

Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act, which states that marriage in Pennsylvania is the union of one man and one woman, passed by overwhelming numbers in the General Assembly, and was signed into law by Gov. Tom Ridge in 1996.  The ACLU is asking a Federal Judge to overturn that law, and redefine marriage in Pennsylvania.

“This is simply dereliction of duty by the Attorney General,” said Michael Geer, the Family Institute President.  “The statute that governs the role of Attorney General in Pennsylvania is crystal clear:  defend duly-enacted state laws*.  Apparently General Kane believes she can ignore laws she disagrees with.   This is damaging to the rule of law and the people’s trust in government,” added Geer.

Attorney General Kane was not elected judge – to pass judgment on the wisdom of laws duly passed by the General Assembly.  It’s her job to defend them.

Every year, laws are passed that people oppose.  We are not given freedom to ignore or disobey them, and neither is Attorney General Kane.  The people of Pennsylvania deserve better from their Attorney General.

We anticipate that other parties named in the lawsuit, including Gov. Tom Corbett, will rightfully take up the responsibility to defend marriage in Pennsylvania.

* From the Commonwealth Attorneys Act of 1980:
Ch 2, Section 204 (3) It shall be the duty of the Attorney General to uphold and defend the constitutionality of all statutes so as to prevent their suspension or abrogation in the absence of a controlling decision by a court of competent jurisdiction.

NSA collecting phone records of millions of Verizon customers daily | World news | The Guardian

"The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America's largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April."

The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.
The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.  Visit:

Father Pavone's Open Letter to Nancy Pelosi

"Dear Mrs. Pelosi,

Last Thursday, June 13, you were asked a question in a press briefing that you declined to answer. The question was, "What is the moral difference between what Dr. Gosnell did to a baby born alive at 23 weeks and aborting her moments before birth?"

Given the fact that the Gosnell case has been national news for months now, and that Congress, where you serve as House Democratic Leader, was about to have a vote on banning abortion after 20 weeks fetal age, this was a legitimate question.

Instead of even attempting to answer the question, you resorted to judgmental ad hominem attacks on the reporter who asked it, saying, "You obviously have an agenda. You're not interested in having an answer."

Mrs. Pelosi, the problem is that you're not interested in giving an answer."

Father Pavone's letter continues and he asks fellow Catholics to send a message to Rep. Pelosi via Priests for Life.org -http://www.priestsforlife.org/pelosi/
Your refusal to answer this question is consistent with your failure to provide an answer to a similar question from me and the members of my Priests for Life staff. Several years ago, we visited your office with the diagrams of dismemberment abortion at 23 weeks, and asked the simple question, "When you say the word 'abortion,' is this what you mean?" In response, nothing but silence has emanated from your office.
In what way is this refusal to address an issue of such national importance consistent with the leadership role you are supposed to be exercising? Public servants are supposed to be able to tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public. Apparently, you can't. Otherwise, you would have been able to explain the difference between a legal medical procedure that kills a baby inside the womb and an act of murder -- for which Dr. Gosnell is now serving life sentences -- for killing the same baby outside the womb.
Moreover, you stated at the press briefing on June 13, "As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don't think it should have anything to do with politics."
With this statement, you make a mockery of the Catholic faith and of the tens of millions of Americans who consider themselves "practicing and respectful Catholics" and who find the killing of children -- whether inside or outside the womb -- reprehensible.
You speak here of Catholic faith as if it is supposed to hide us from reality instead of lead us to face reality, as if it is supposed to confuse basic moral truths instead of clarify them, and as if it is supposed to help us escape the hard moral questions of life rather than help us confront them.
Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it's time for you to stop speaking as if it were.
Abortion is not sacred ground; it is sacrilegious ground. To imagine God giving the slightest approval to an act that dismembers a child he created is offensive to both faith and reason.
And to say that a question about the difference between a legal medical procedure and murder should not "have anything to do with politics" reveals a profound failure to understand your own political responsibilities, which start with the duty to secure the God-given right to life of every citizen.
Mrs. Pelosi, for decades you have gotten away with betraying and misrepresenting the Catholic faith as well as the responsibilities of public office. We have had enough of it. Either exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them."
Sincerely,

Fr. Frank Pavone

Catholic Bishops Pledge to Defeat Cuomo's Abortion on Demand Bill | LifeNews.com

"“The Governor’s newly released abortion agenda involves enshrining a barbaric federal law from the last century,” she continued. “Under Roe v. Wade, abortionists like Kermit Gosnell can kill babies with a heartbeat, babies capable of feeling pain, babies who are full term and waiting to be born. Instead of protecting these children, the governor is dragging New York in the wrong direction. Current law states that only a duly licensed physician may perform an abortion. This bill repeals that section and allows anyone to perform an abortion.”"

Hitler Did Not Take Austria by Force - An Eyewitness Account

A woman I met recently told me about this article and sent it to me.  Every freedom loving American should read it and pass it on to friends and family.

“I am a witness to history. “I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. If you remember the plot of the Sound of Music, the Von Trapp family escaped over the Alps rather than submit to the Nazis. Kitty wasn’t so lucky. Her family chose to stay in her native Austria. She was 10 years old, but bright and aware. And she was watching. “We elected him by a landslide – 98 percent of the vote,” she recalls. She wasn’t old enough to vote in 1938 – approaching her 11th birthday. But she remembers. “Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.” No so. Hitler is welcomed to Austria “In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25 percent inflation and 25 percent bank loan interest rates. Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn’t want to work; there simply weren’t any jobs. “My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people – about 30 daily.’ “We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933.” she recalls. “We had been told that they didn’t have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. “Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group – Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone in Germany was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. “Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler. “We were overjoyed,” remembers Kitty, “and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed. “After the election, German officials were appointed, and, like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service. “Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn’t support his family. Many women in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been re- quired to give up for marriage. “Then we lost religious education for kids “Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school.. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler’s picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn’t pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang ‘Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles,’ and had physical education. “Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail.” And then things got worse. “The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. “We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had. “My mother was very unhappy,” remembers Kitty. “When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn’t do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun – no sports, and no political indoctrination. “I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. “Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time, unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. “It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn’t exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy. “In 1939, the war started, and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn’t work, you didn’t get a ration card, and, if you didn’t have a card, you starved to death. “Women who stayed home to raise their families didn’t have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men. “Soon after this, the draft was implemented. “It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps,” remembers Kitty. “During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. “They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. “When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. “Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service. “When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. “You could take your children ages four weeks old to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, seven days a week, under the total care of the government. “The state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had. “Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna.. “After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. “When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. “If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries. “As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80 percent of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. “All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing. “We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. “Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn’t meet all the demands. “Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control. “We had consumer protection, too “We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the livestock, and then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it. “In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps. The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. “So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work. “I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. “I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. “They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness. “As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia. “Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law-abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long afterwards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily. “No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up. “Totalitarianism didn’t come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.” “This is my eyewitness account. “It’s true. Those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of unbelievable freedom and opportunity. “America is truly is the greatest country in the world. “Don’t let freedom slip away. “After America, there is no place to go.” Name withheld by editor

Priest conducts Catholic service to name 45 aborted babies found in Gosnell clinic

A Catholic priest presided over a service Thursday to give proper names to the 45 babies whose bodies were found in the West Philadelphia abortion clinic of Dr. Kermit Gosnell. He is charged with killing five people - a patient and four viable babies that prosecutors say were born alive. He has also been charged with performing late-term abortions that violate Pennsylvania’s 24-week limit on the procedure.

“People have names, people deserve names. The name expresses the person. The name recognizes that there is a person there.” said Father Frank Pavone during the 30-minute service in the New York chapel of Priests for Life, the Catholic Church’s largest pro-life activist group.  visit:

Alveda King: Gosnell Guilty Verdict May Spark More Justice for Women and Babies

"The guilty charge against Dr. Kermit Gosnell, dethroned ruler of "Gosnell's House of Horrors," may spark justice for more women and babies across America. So says Alveda King, director of African-American Outreach for Gospel of Life Ministries.

"Justice is served with this verdict, but injustice will continue unless we end abortion in this country," King says. "Gosnell was not the only abortionist who killed mothers and their born babies; he was just the one who got caught. Now we have to turn our attention to charging, trying and convicting others like him." "

The Gosnell case: Here’s what you need to know

"Pennsylvania law bars abortions after 24 weeks’ gestation, at which point a fetus is considered to be likely viable outside the womb. Gosnell performed multiple abortions at 24.5 weeks, and the grand jury report found that many of those procedures underestimated the period of gestation. One Gosnell employee estimated that about 40 percent of the clinic’s abortions occurred after 24 weeks. Gosnell, the grand jury found, killed the babies born alive in his clinic.
“Gosnell had a simple solution for the unwanted babies he delivered: he killed them,” the report said. “He didn’t call it that. He called it ‘ensuring fetal demise.’ The way he ensured fetal demise was by sticking scissors into the back of the baby’s neck and cutting the spinal cord.”"  Visit:

Jury convicts abortion provider Kermit Gosnell of murder - The Washington Post

"After a two-month trial and 10 days of deliberation, a jury on Monday decided that Baby A, Baby C and Baby D lived a few fleeting moments outside their mothers’ wombs before their spinal cords were severed at Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic in West Philadelphia.

The way those brief lives ended didn’t amount to abortion but to three acts of first-degree murder, jurors concluded."Jury convicts abortion provider Kermit Gosnell of murder - The Washington Post:

Video: Was Gosnell an aberration in late-term abortions? « Hot Air

"The trial of Kermit Gosnell — and the media silence on it for much of the proceedings — have shone a light on lat-term abortions that abortion advocates have hardly welcomed.  In response, the abortion industry has argued that Gosnell was an aberration, a rare instance of inhumanity for a service that is critical to the health of women.  How true is that?  Live Action conducted an undercover operation to allow people a look into the late-term abortion business, and we discover that the lawless approach we saw in Gosnell’s clinic was at the very least not unique."  Video: Was Gosnell an aberration in late-term abortions? « Hot Air:

From 40 Days for Life-Day 31 The abortionist's Wife | Facebook

Day 31 The abortionist's Wife | Facebook:
"THE ABORTIONIST'S WIFE"

A vigil participant was noticing that nearly all the
cars in the abortion center parking lot were parked in
the staff area -- very few were in the area reserved
for those with appointments. And that was good.

The volunteer was soon deep in prayer when the
abortionist drove up -- with his wife and their
teenager. He got out of the car and headed toward
the building while the wife and teen drove away.

The abortionist's wife pulled up next to the vigil
participant, rolled down her window and asked, "How
are you doing?" The surprised volunteer answered,
"Good! How about you?"

She responded, "I just wanted to tell you that I so
appreciate what you do and how you are always so nice
and respectful." That simple response turned out to
be the opening line in a very lengthy conversation.

The wife expressed her gratitude for the way the
40 Days for Life vigil is conducted. In another city,
there is a group outside the abortion center that
yells at her husband.

Here, however, he's been told that the vigil
participants are praying for him. "He just can't
understand how you can be so against what he does
and yet so nice to him."

She explained that her husband grew up in a home that
had no use for religion -- the concept is totally
foreign to him. The volunteer promised to pray that he
would be able to grasp -- and eventually embrace --
faith. The teen blurted out, "Please do!"

"I asked the abortionist's wife to pray for me," said
the volunteer, "and she said she would."

The wife said, "I'm really impressed that you believe
in something so strongly and passionately that you’re
willing to be here every week for years in every kind
of weather."

"There is much to meditate upon from this conversation,"
said the 40 Days for Life volunteer. "It confirmed the
constant presence, the peaceful method, the prayerful
attitude. It helped give me a renewed sense of
dedication to continually trying to get people to
sign up so that we can have a constant presence on the
sidewalk. We never know who will see us and when they
will see us.

"God gave me an awesome story in order to ask once
again for you to join us for 40 Days for Life. Please
keep praying for an end to abortion and for ALL those
involved. God is using us to help bring His children
to Him -- ALL of them!"
