Dr. Clenard Childress addressed nearly 450 enthusiastic pro-lifers assembled at St. Mary's Center in Scranton for the annual Respect for Life Prayer Breakfast. The Scranton Times reported Dr. Childress stated:
"The African-American community has been targeted by abortion," he said. "A pregnant woman who is in poverty and destitute and may appear not to have much chance at a fruitful life seems to be a candidate for abortion, but that is the mindset of an elitist group making the rules of who lives and who dies." Congressman Barletta Speech in Support of HR 2, Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act | Congressman Lou Barletta
Congressman Lou BarlettaCongressman Barletta:
"Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of repealing the Health Care Law. I believe everyone should have access to affordable, quality health care. However, the law passed last year does the contrary. It makes health care less affordable; it diminishes the quality of care; it forces seniors out of their Medicare drug coverage and it prevents Small Businesses from getting Americans back to work."
"In my district, we have the highest number of seniors in Pennsylvania, and the $206 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage will cause 7.5 million seniors to lose their retiree drug coverage by 2016."
"Small Businesses face a $2,000 fine per employee if their plans do not meet a bureaucrat-approved standard. At a time when the unemployment level in my district is over 9%, Congress must not discourage job creation by placing mandates and levying penalties on those who will get us back on track towards a more prosperous nation. I urge my colleagues to vote yes on H.R. 2".Congressman Barletta Speech in Support of HR 2, Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act | Congressman Lou Barletta

Abortion case ‘flabbergasts’ Rendell - AltoonaMirror.com - Altoona, PA | News, Sports, Jobs, Community Information - The Altoona Mirror
While Ed Rendell pretends he had no knowledge that abortion clinics weren't being inspected, we can be thankful that one legslator has the health and saety of women and newborns in mind. From the Altoona Mirror: "My legislation would require the Pennsylvania Department of Health to perform annual inspections for each abortion facility," state Sen. Jake Corman, R-Centre, said. "In addition, minimum health and safety standards would be implemented for all abortion clinics, the same safety standards which other health care facilities must meet in the state. We must require the same safety measures that are required in all health care facilities in Pennsylvania, to be met by these clinics." Gruesome details in report on Philadelphia abortion doctor | Philadelphia Inquirer | 01/19/2011
During an investigation of Dr. Kermit Gosnell for allegedly selling illegal drugs, the District Attorney found bags with the bodies of aborted babies lying around. Upon interviewing the staff at this abortion mill Gosnell was charged with murder. The Philadelphia District Attorney stated, "West Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell routinely delivered live babies in the third trimester of pregnancy, then murdered them by 'sticking scissors into the back of the baby's neck and cutting the spinal cord."
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the abortionist even joked about it. "One newborn who weighed almost six pounds was so big 'the doctor joked . . . this baby 'could walk me to the bus stop.''" This must read article also contains a video from a press conference. One sad fact was that those charged with investigating this matter have been ignoring reports about Gosnell for years. 112th Congress convenes; Boehner elected speaker - Valley News Live - KVLY/KXJB - Fargo/Grand Forks
Vice President Joe Biden gave the oath of office to senators, while the House began a long roll call that ended in Boehner's election. Nineteen House Democrats refused to vote for Pelosi as speaker, baring the lingering wounds from last fall's bitter elections that cost their party 64 House seats. Countless GOP campaign ads had depicted Pelosi and her allies as out-of-touch liberals. Eleven House Democrats kept campaign promises Wednesday by voting for fellow centrist Heath Shuler, D-N.C. Bob Casey's Weak Pro-Life Record Means Tough Re-Election | LifeNews.com
Senator Bob Casey was supposed to be the pro-life Democratic champion in the style of his father that the pro-life movement needed for a bipartisan attack on abortion.
But, to pro-life advocates in Pennsylvania, he has been a colossal failure because of his frequent votes against the pro-life position on key legislation and amendments

"HEALTH CARE LAW - Advance care planning is back:
Prior to passage of what is now known as ObamaCare, a provision that would have included 'advance care planning' led many opponents of the bill to call such planning a step toward 'death panels.' The provision was dropped before the bill passed. However, in November 2010, the provision has now been put back into ObamaCare through the rulemaking process.
