Adult Stem Cells Tested to Treat ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) | LifeNews.com
An Israeli company is conducting a clinical trial using a patient’s own adult stem cells to treat ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease.) The method using adult stem cells was developed by professors at Tel Aviv University. Cells are taken from a patient’s own bone marrow and differentiated in the lab into astrocytes, cells responsible for nurturing neurons in the brain. By releasing neurotrophic factors, which are proteins that can protect brain cells, the former bone marrow adult stem cells can protect and preserve brain cell function. The article also says they expect trials to be conducted in Boston soon. Proposed restrictions would shut most abortion clinics in the state
What is Planned Parenthood saying about the proposed abortion clinic restrictions in PA? (HINT: This PP official and the little bird who ran around saying "The sky is falling!" have a lot in common.)
PP official:
"What we expect is that the majority of abortion providers in Pennsylvania would be shut down for some time," said Rebecca Cavanaugh, vice president for public affairs for Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania. "For us the most cost-effective option would be to shut down and find a different building -- but we own this building." Erie Foreclosure Sends Notorious Abortionist Brigham Packing
Erie, PA – A business condo association has foreclosed on the Erie offices owned by the notorious abortionist Steven Chase Brigham located at 1611 Peach Street. Movers were photographed removing the contents of Brigham’s three suites on Saturday, December 10.
That office had the dubious distinction of having been the first “legal” abortion clinic in Erie. It has been generally unused since the last Brigham-hired abortionist quit in February, 2007, after pro-life activists drew public attention to his employment at the abortion clinic. Notices for delinquent taxes had been seen regularly posted to the clinic’s door. The story continues atErie Foreclosure Sends Notorious Abortionist Brigham Packing

Donald Berwick, Rationing Advocate, Quits Obama Admin Post | LifeNews.com
Good news momentarily - but you know Obama will name another pro-rationing, pro-abortion replacement - just not one who is so high profile. On the Levin show of 11-22 or 11-23 a caller who was a neurosurgeon who had attended meetings regarding the implementation of Obamacare, reported that patients over age 70 were referred to as "units"in an obvious effort to depersonalize them. They were only to get comfort care. Essentially they would receive nothing and be allowed to die from whatever health problem they had.
Lifenews reports: Donald Berwick, the rationing advocate President Barack Obama nominated to head the U.S. Medicare and Medicaid programs in the face of opposition from pro-life advocates, has quit his post in the Obama administration.
Because he is unable to get enough votes in the Senate to approve his nomination, his recess appointment will end and Berwick has decided to stop down from his position as the chief implementor of Obamacare, the health care law pro-life groups opposed because its prompts concerns about abortion funding, rationing, and fails to protect the conscience rights of medical workers.Visit:Donald Berwick, Rationing Advocate, Quits Obama Admin Post | LifeNews.com

Planned Parenthood of Syracuse N.Y. Won't Provide Pregnancy Test Unless Women Choose Abortion
40 Days for Life Volunteers outside a Syracuse N.Y. Planned Parenthood Witnessed the Following:
"The young woman walked out of Planned Parenthood in tears. She just wanted to know if she was pregnant — but Planned Parenthood wanted to steer her towards abortion. “We offered her support and assisted her to the pregnancy care center next door,” said Jeanie, a 40 Days for Life leader in Syracuse.
It was not an isolated situation.
“One couple we offered assistance to told us as they were leaving that Planned Parenthood would not even give them a pregnancy test if they were not planning to have an abortion,” she said, “and the couple said they had insurance.”
Volunteers also spoke to a mother and daughter on the sidewalk outside. “The daughter was pregnant and angry at Planned Parenthood for not being willing to provide any pregnancy care whatsoever if she didn’t plan on aborting the baby,” Jeanie said.
She simply needed help filling out insurance forms. They were directed instead to the pro-life pregnancy care center to get the assistance they needed."

WHEELER: Why Herman Cain is surging - Washington Times
The Washington Times: "By Sept. 27, Zogby released a poll showing Mr. Cain with a strong lead over the rest of the field. I pointed this out to several Washington insiders, who immediately dismissed it and said Zogby’s polls can’t be trusted. I pointed out to them that their opinion of Zogby was irrelevant because it was posted on the Drudge Report, and all over the country, people would be realizing that Mr. Cain could win. I predicted to the naysayers at that time that Mr. Cain would come up in the other polls and soon could be out in front. The past two weeks have validated that analysis." Steve Jobs Changed the World: Adoption Changed His | LifeNews.com
A powerful adoption story from Lifenews.com:
The news hit me in the gut. I couldn’t believe I was seeing those few numbers, communicating his passing, beneath his photo: 1955-2011. Steve Jobs has, literally, changed the world. I’m typing this on my Mac, will check my emails and Twitter status on my iPad, and will stay in touch with everyone I love through my iPhone.
As a creative professional, his visionary work has helped my own visions become reality.
But his vision, his destiny and his ability to affect people, globally, may never have happened. Jobs was adopted as a baby and loved by his parents, Clara and Paul Jobs. The baby they took into their hearts and home had a purpose in life that would be unleashed by the powerful act of adoption. Stem cell bill ignores patients and real science - The Hill's Congress Blog
"The reintroduction of a bill for federal taxpayer support of human embryonic stem cell research by U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.), will waste taxpayer funds on unworthy science and possibly delay cures for patients. While the text of the bill isn’t yet available at this writing, sources say it will be close or identical to her previous offering in the 111th Congress.
The bill’s purpose supposedly is to codify the Obama administration’s 2009 liberalized policy of federal funding for human embryonic stem cells. However, it lays out a policy that is neither ethically responsible nor scientifically worthy, including authorizing funds for the cloning (by somatic cell nuclear transfer) of human embryos for experiments."

"CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval today praised a federal appeals court ruling that struck down the so-called “individual mandate” in federal health care legislation.
“The ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals confirms what we have known all along: the federal health care law’s individual mandate was over-reaching and unconstitutional,” said Sandoval in a statement. “Nevada continues to be well-represented in this case and I expect there will be ultimate victory before the United States Supreme Court.”" Visit:Nevada News Bureau » Blog Archive » Gov. "TOPEKA — A federal appeals court ruling in Georgia that overturned a portion of the nation’s latest health insurance law Friday did little to end confusion over how to follow that law in Kansas.
A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which requires all Americans to carry health insurance or face penalties, is unconstitutional. The Court ruled that Congress exceeded its constitutional powers by requiring people to buy health insurance when they choose not to do so." Nightline” has been airing special one-hour, primetime programs. On July 14, the focus was on the apparitions of Mary, mother of Jesus."Our Lady of Guadalupe miracle story retold
Among the apparitions examined was one that occurred in Wisconsin about 150 years ago that only recently has gained the official approval of the Catholic Church – the first in the United States.
Another apparition briefly included in the program was that of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico. Unfortunately, the time allotted for this famous and enormously important apparition was minimal. In his letter to the editor Dr. Charles De Celles from Marywood University adds more details.

"HHS is preparing a list of “preventative services for women” that every insurance plan must cover, without co-pay or deductible, under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, popularly known as “Obamacare.” In a time-honored bureaucratic maneuver, HHS referred the question of what to include to a tame outside organization it could count on to give it the advice it wanted: It asked the Institute of Medicine (IOM), a nominally independent, if pliant, nonprofit, to identify the services that should be mandated.

Maine House Candidate Victorious in Public Funding Challenge

Maine House Candidate Victorious in Public Funding Challenge
On Thursday, a federal district court in Maine declared unconstitutional a provision of Maine’s system of public funding for elections that provides taxpayer funding to legislative candidates based on opposition speech.
The Maine Clean Elections Act, passed in 1995, provides taxpayer funding for Maine legislative and gubernatorial candidates who agree to limit how much money they raise and spend on their campaigns. Under the scheme, state legislative candidates receive between $500 and $19,000 in initial funding, plus additional “matching funds” of up to $38,000 if they are outspent by their opponent and independent groups.
Rep. Andre Cushing, state representative for District 39 of the Maine legislature, brought suit last August along with Respect Maine PAC, and Harold Clough, challenging the constitutionality of the matching fund. Rep. Cushing did not take public funding for his campaign, and argued the money he raises shouldn't trigger additional funding to his opponent. “I don’t support having taxpayers foot the bill for a politician’s election campaign” says Cushing, “but making me fund my opponent by giving him a dollar for each dollar I raise is simply unconstitutional.”
The federal order makes reference to the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Arizona Free Enterprise Club’s Freedom PAC v. Bennett, which declared unconstitutional a similar Arizona scheme.
“The court’s decision here is just a straightforward application of the Supreme Court’s decision in Bennett,” said James Bopp, Jr., counsel for the plaintiffs. “Requiring people to effectively fund candidates they opposed simply by exercising their First Amendment rights is blatantly unconstitutional.”
“The court has reaffirmed that Maine election laws must pass constitutional muster,” said David Crocker of the Maine Heritage Policy Center, local counsel for the plaintiffs. “This decision clears a roadblock to free speech, which Maine’s citizens should justly celebrate.”
The case is Cushing et al. v. McKee et al., 1:10-cv-330. Copies of the order and other documents related to the case are available in PDF online at the James Madison Center’s website, www.jamesmadisoncenter.org, under “Cushing v. McKee.”
James Bopp, Jr. has a national federal and state election law practice. He is General Counsel for the James Madison Center for Free Speech and former Co-Chairman of the Election Law Subcommittee of the Federalist Society.

The Kermit Gosnell of Florida: Ignoring unsafe abortions and death at the Dadeland Family Planning Center. - By William Saletan - Slate Magazine
"In the last 10 years, the clinic and its doctors have been sued 15 times. ... One doctor who worked at the Dadeland clinic was a convicted sex offender. Another was reprimanded by his state licensing board for 'gross malpractice.' A third was responsible for more than $500,000 in out-of-court settlements on abortions gone awry. Year after year, there were ruptured uteruses, perforated colons and emergency hysterectomies. ... Finally, one woman, the unluckiest of all, died.
Sixteen years after Roe, Sontag wrote, 'the back alley persists—on a commercial street, in a medical building, with a front door, and sometimes even with a state license.'" Brigham :Operation Rescue
Allentown, PA – A group of pro-life activists joint together on Saturday morning to warn the public and women entering the Allentown Medical Services abortion clinic of the dangerous conditions found there during recent state inspections.
The protesters came from all over Pennsylvania to protest at the clinic once owned by the notorious Steven Chase Brigham, who has such an appalling history of abortion abuses that he has been ordered not to have any involvement, direct or indirect, with any abortion business in that state. Brigham transferred control to Rose Health Services, which is a company purportedly owned by his mother. Brigham continues to solicit abortion business for the Allentown clinic through his American Medical Services web site.
The pro-life activists carried signs with slogans like “Unacceptable risk to women at this abortion facility.”
Video taken at the protest showed maintenance worker at the building where the abortion clinic operates thanking the protesters for exposing the dangers of the abortion clinic.
Violations found during an inspection that took place on May 26, 2011, discovered out-of-date medicine, metal instruments with a brown material in the hinges and inside the supposedly sterile packaging, surgical instruments tossed in unsterilized drawers, and surgical instruments stored in a “musty” smelling suitcase in broken wrappers – all of which were considered by employees to be ready for use on patients.
Also discovered was a freezer where “Infectious Waste”, (the remains of aborted babies), was stored that was smeared with what an employee acknowledged was blood and contained a thick layer of frozen blood in the bottom. Dirty recovery room blankets and a dangerous lack of patient monitoring were also documented.
No plan has been to correct these egregious violations has been filed, yet the abortion clinic continues to operate.
“Kudos to Kathy Kuhns, who did a great job organizing this protest. We must keep up the public opposition and pressure on the Pennsylvania Department of Health until this dirty and dangerous abortion mill is closed for good,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman

Pennsylvania To Begin Issuing Birth Certificates for Stillbirths | Care2 Causes
Pro-Aborts are getting nervous:
"Last week, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett signed a bill into law which will allow Pennsylvania parents who deliver stillborn babies to receive a birth certificate for their child. This makes Pennsylvania the 28th state to allow birth certificates for stillbirths, and it is largely because of campaigning by people like Heidi Kauffmann, whose son, Kail, was born dead three weeks before his due date. Instead of receiving a birth certificate after the tragedy, the Kauffmanns were given a death certificate." (Of course I do not agree with the last line of this article.) The "Not Mitt" Primary by Lowman S. Henry
The "Not Mitt" Primary
Can a newcomer win the GOP Presidential nomination?
By: Lowman S. Henry
In addition to their growing ideological divide, the two major political parties in the United States have established a completely different approach to selecting their nominees for the Presidency. The Republican nomination tends to go to a well-known, although not necessarily beloved, candidate who has run previously for national office. Democrats get swept up in the moment frequently picking a newcomer who embodies the prevailing mood of the day.
From an electoral viewpoint this has generally worked well for the Democrats. The notable misfire was the nomination of the anti-Vietnam War candidate George McGovern in 1972 who was routed by Richard Nixon in the general election. But starting with Jimmy Carter in 1976, continuing with Bill Clinton in 1992 and most recently Barack Obama in 2008, candidates rising from obscurity have resulted in Democratic electoral victories.
Republicans have rewarded persistence - but with mixed results. Ronald Reagan prevailed in 1980 after having lost to Gerald Ford in 1976; George H.W. Bush won in 1988 after having run in 1980 and then serving as Reagan's Vice President. George W. Bush won in 2000 without having previously lost, but had the built-in advantage of the Bush family name and network in claiming the nomination.
The GOP's habit of selecting a previous year's also-ran has produced some notable flops. U.S. Senator Robert Dole had lost to George H.W. Bush in 1988, but was rewarded with the party's nomination in 1996 only to lose to Bill Clinton. In 2008, the 2000 primary runner-up U.S. Senator John McCain became the Republican standard-bearer, and was run down by Barack Obama.
This brings us to the upcoming 2012 race and once again the front-runner is a losing candidate from a previous campaign cycle. The GOP race has begun to take shape over the past few months with several potential heavy weight candidates declining to run, and others making their candidacies official. Through all this former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has emerged as the front-runner. He consistently leads in national polls. More importantly, his fundraising has left the other candidates in the dust. Romney is expected to report having raked in close to $20 million in the second quarter, about four times more than any other candidate is expected to have raised.
Despite his financial showing and strong polling numbers there is unease about a Mitt Romney candidacy that permeates the party. Driven in large measure by Romney's Massachusetts health care plan, which was disturbingly similar to the reviled Obamacare, many Republicans are looking for a fresh face.
This has created a second tier of candidacies vying in the "not Mitt" primary. In recent weeks Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, a favorite of the tea party movement, has emerged as the leading challenger to Romney moving into a statistical tie with him in the crucial first caucus state of Iowa. Georgia businessman and talk show host Herman Cain, another grassroots darling, is also showing viability.
But evidence of the degree to which the race remains unsettled is the continued pining for additional candidates to enter the race. A delegation of power brokers from Iowa paid a visit to Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey in an effort to entice him to run. He declined. Currently, the most talked about non-candidate is Texas Governor Rick Perry, who is by all accounts seriously considering jumping into the fray.
If Perry decides to run the dynamics of the contest would dramatically change. Although he would start out behind, the sitting Texas governor would quickly be able to compete with Romney financially. Perry's persona and policies also appeal to the conservative base of the party, giving him a shot at winning over those currently supporting Bachmann and Cain.
Perry has the potential to quickly emerge as the leading "not Mitt" candidate. The big question then would be: can Perry or any fresh face convince the broad spectrum of Republican voters to abandon their historic tendency to nominate the known quantity and take a chance on a national newcomer?
In 2010, as the tea party movement swept the nation, we learned that the old rules of politics no longer necessarily apply. As the economy continues to sputter and foreign wars drag on voters are going to be looking for fresh faces and new ideas.
Thus the stage is set for historic and current trends to collide. Will the GOP again nominate an also-ran, or will it be more like the Democrats and go with a fresh face that captures the national mood. The answer to that question will ultimately determine whether Mitt Romney or the "not Mitt" ends up as the 2012 Republican nominee for President of the United States.

Alert from New Jersey Right to Life RE: Planned Parenthood Funding
From New Jersey Right to Life : "On Monday, June 27, 2011, Senate and Assembly Budget Committees will meet in Trenton. Democrats, unhappy with the Governor's proposed budget, plan to present their own budget for Fiscal Year 2012. One of their main priorities is to restore $7.5M in taxpayer money to one of their core constituencies, Planned Parenthood.
According to Planned Parenthood's own fact sheets, NJ family planning clinics will still continue to receive in excess of $9.6M from Federal tax dollars under the Title X program. Before Governor Christie eliminated funding for family planning in the state budget, NJ taxpayers were funding Planned Parenthood, despite the fact that we were not required to do so. Girl Scouts, Sullied
Bishop James Conley of Denver recently released a warning to Catholic parents about the Girl Scouts in which he "quotes one youth minister: “It’s hard to imagine that a girl who remains involved with Girl Scouts into young adulthood won’t eventually learn of the connection her organization has with ‘pro-choice,’ pro-contraception, and ‘reproductive freedom’ groups. Having been influenced by GSUSA, she’ll be more receptive to this agenda. And if she was introduced to GSUSA through her parents and her local parish, then that will inevitably create contradiction between her Catholic faith and her Scouting experience.”" Visit:

ANALYSIS - Abortion is back on front burner

9th Circuit: Parties May Contribute To Candidates; No Limit for IE Contributions
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today issued a ruling vindicating the political speech and association rights of corporations and political parties. The ruling affirmed a lower court’s decision to enjoin certain San Diego campaign finance laws. This decision upheld the right of political parties to make contributions to their candidates, and the right of individuals, associations, and corporations to make unlimited contributions to committees making independent expenditures.
James Bopp, Jr., counsel for the plaintiffs, commented, “One of the important purposes of political parties is to elect their candidates to office. It is absurd to forbid them from giving money to support their candidates. The Ninth Circuit understood that the First Amendment gives citizens the right to band together in political parties, and that political parties have a First Amendment right to financially support their candidates.” About the independent expenditure ruling, Mr. Bopp said, “The Supreme Court has ruled that there is no permissible reason for the government to limit independent expenditures themselves. This is true even when the expenditures are made by corporations. It naturally follows that if the expenditures cannot be limited, then money to groups making expenditures cannot be limited either, even when the money comes from associations and corporations.”
The Ninth Circuit’s decision also ruled that San Diego’s laws banning direct corporate contributions to candidates, and preventing candidates from accepting contributions more than a year before the primary, are likely constitutional. Mr. Bopp disagreed with the Court, explaining, “Both these bans are bans on political speech and association. And the Supreme Court has said that while limits may be acceptable, bans are not.” Mr. Bopp said that these rulings may yet be overturned by subsequent litigation in this case.
The case is known as Thalheimer v. City of San Diego. The Ninth Circuit’s decision is availably athttp://www.jamesmadisoncenter.org/cases/files/2011/06/Dkt-76-1-OPINION.pdf. The other documents from this case are athttp://www.jamesmadisoncenter.org/cases/06-09-2011/486/.

Sometimes the horror is too much: ‘Feticide’ and stopping the baby’s heart | LifeSiteNews.com
"For abortions at 22 weeks or beyond, feticide is recommended prior to the evacuation of the uterus to stop the fetal heart. In 2010, of the 1,173 abortions performed at 22 weeks and over, 70% were reported as preceded by a feticide and a further 25% were performed by a method whereby the fetal heart is stopped as part of the procedure. 2% of abortions at 22 weeks or beyond were confirmed as having no feticide. For the remaining 3%, at the time of publication, we had not been able to confirm whether feticide had been performed." Visit:

Planned Parenthood Clinic of Mercer County, NJ Not Compliant With Health and Safety Laws
State and federal lawmakers championing funding for Planned Parenthood have done a grave disservice to women and young girls in our state, said Marie Tasy, Executive Director of New Jersey Right to Life. In early February, a clinic employee at a Planned Parenthood family planning clinic in Perth Amboy, NJ was caught on tape willing to aid and abet in the sex trafficking of minor girls as young as 13. Just last month, the Planned Parenthood family planning clinic in Trenton, NJ was cited for numerous health code violations which have placed the lives and health of women and young girls in imminent danger.
NJRTL obtained the 39 page deficiency report through an Open Public Records Act. Some of the deficiencies cited by the NJ Department of Health in their April 7, 2011 survey of Planned Parenthood of Mercer County include the facility s improper use of syringes and compounds, improper training and qualifications of staff on pain management and health care counseling (including abortion services), failure to have infection control program in place, failure to require physical exam for staff and failure to test staff for rubella, rubella and TB tests, medical director s failure to designate a replacement in their absence, failure to ensure adequate protections in place for drug adverse reactions and medication errors, failure to have procedures in place regarding parental and dangerous substances act as required by law, failure to ensure a written agreement with a pharmacy licensed by the NJ State Board of Pharmacy, failure to have adequate infection controls in place, improper use and sterilization of medical instruments and devices, including a vaginal ultrasound, failure to provide evidence that facility is a formal member of the Maternal and Child Health Consortium as required by law, failure to maintain hot running water in patient care areas, and several sanitary and safety violations involving patient care and many other administrative deficiencies.
Despite the fact that these Planned Parenthood family planning facilities have engaged in practices that place the lives and health of women and young girls in imminent danger, Senator Weinberg, who has enjoyed the support of Planned Parenthood in all her election campaigns and Assemblywoman Linda Stender, whose chief of staff is married to Planned Parenthood s Executive Director, have declared war on the budget and are vowing to shut down the government if taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood is not provided, said Tasy. Likewise, Congressman Rush Holt, who identifies himself as a Board Member of Planned Parenthood of Mercer County, has defended funding of Planned Parenthood and has even written a letter extolling Planned Parenthood's virtues, see link below: http://www.plannedparenthoodnj.org/assets/docs/... On March 22, 2011, Senator Frank Lautenberg appeared at a Planned Parenthood Rally in Englewood, NJ and was caught on video stating that citizens who don t want their taxpayer dollars funding Planned Parenthood, don't deserve the freedoms in the Constitution.
True champions of women would demand that these clinics be shut down immediately instead of pushing for taxpayer funding to keep them in business. Governor Christie is doing the taxpayers and women of NJ a favor by refusing to fund Planned Parenthood family planning clinics. Lawmakers defending Planned Parenthood and pushing for taxpayer funding of this organization should be held accountable for their advocacy of Planned Parenthood and their failure to protect the health and safety of women and young girls. They don't speak for the women and young girls of NJ," said Marie Tasy, Executive Director of New Jersey Right to Life.

"Editor: Kudos to Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels for signing the bill to eliminate funding to Planned Parenthood. Since the federal government is unwilling to stop this funding, I hope the other governors will follow suit. Planned Parenthood isn't just 'a major provider of abortions' - it's America's number-one abortion provider. Visit:Letters to the Editor 5/17/2011 - Letters - The Times-Tribune:

AlbertMohler.com – The Scandal of Gendercide — War on Baby Girls
"In many nations of the world, there is an all-out war on baby girls. In 1990, economist Amartya Sen estimated that 100 million baby girls were missing — sacrificed by parents who desired a son. Two decades later, multiple millions of missing baby girls must be added to that total, victims of abortion, infanticide, or fatal neglect. The murder of girls is especially common in China and northern India. Visit: AlbertMohler.com – The Scandal of Gendercide — War on Baby Girls:

IowaPolitics.com: IowaPolitics.com: Abortion bill forced to Senate floor
DES MOINES — Two Democrats joined 24 Republicans to force a late-term abortion bill to the Senate floor on Tuesday. It is uncertain whether Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal will allow the bill to be considered. According to IowaPolitics.com: "Democratic Sens. Tom Hancock of Epworth and Joe Seng of Davenport joined Republicans in signing a discharge petition that pulled the bill out of the Government Oversight Committee. The rare procedural move requires a majority 26 signatures in the 50-member Iowa Senate." The story continues: IowaPolitics.com: IowaPolitics.com: Abortion bill forced to Senate floor

From Operation Rescue - The Kansas Senate Votes for Abortion Clinic Regulations
Topeka, Kansas — The Kansas Senate voted 24-15 (April 22) to pass a bill that would force two annual inspections of abortion clinics, ban telemed “webcam” abortions, and give the Department of Health and Environment authority to fine and close abortion clinics that do not comply with the new law. It will also require abortionists to maintain hospital privileges within 30 miles of their clinic.
The bill earlier passed the House and now heads to the desk of Gov. Sam Brownback, who has promised to sign it.
“This new law, for the first time, will allow authorities to exercise true oversight of abortion businesses that have never been inspected or accountable to anyone until now,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “These common sense standards will also save lives and protect women by preventing the expansion of dangerous web cam abortions into this state. We applaud the Kansas Legislature, especially efforts by Sen. Mary Pilcher-Cook, for ensuring that abortion clinics comply with the law or close. We expect that some will close rather than clean up, which says a lot about the abortion cartel’s general lack of concern for the health and safety of women.”

From Operation Rescue - Help Iowa Ban Late Term Abortion
"Des Moines, IA – Iowa State Senators are set to employ a political maneuver that will send the stalled — but urgently needed — Fetal Pain Bill to the floor for debate next week. Senators plan to file a petition signed by the majority of members that will force a floor debate on HF 657 on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The legislation, which would ban late-term abortions after 20 weeks when pre-born babies can feel pain, passed easily in the House in March then stalled out in the Democrat-controlled Senate Government Oversight Committee, which says it has no intention moving on the bill.
The action to by-pass the committee and move the bill to the floor took place one day after Iowa Right to Life and Operation Rescue held a joint press conference at the Iowa Capitol, and two days after a local paper took the Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal to task for blocking progress on the Fetal Pain bill." Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer at the Vigil of the Beatification of Pope John Paul II
Pope Benedict XVI’s prayer:
Hail Mary, poor and humble Woman,
Blessed by the Most High!
Virgin of hope, dawn of a new era,
We join in your song of praise,
to celebrate the Lord’s mercy,
to proclaim the coming of the Kingdom
and the full liberation of humanity.
Hail Mary, lowly handmaid of the Lord,
Glorious Mother of Christ!
Faithful Virgin, holy dwelling-place of the Word,
Teach us to persevere in listening to the Word,
and to be docile to the voice of the Spirit,
attentive to his promptings in the depths of our conscience
and to his manifestations in the events of history.
Hail Mary, Woman of sorrows,
Mother of the living!
Virgin spouse beneath the Cross, the new Eve,
Be our guide along the paths of the world.
Teach us to experience and to spread the love of Christ,
to stand with you before the innumerable crosses
on which your Son is still crucified.
Hail Mary, woman of faith,
First of the disciples!
Virgin Mother of the Church, help us always
to account for the hope that is in us,
with trust in human goodness and the Father’s love.
Teach us to build up the world beginning from within:
in the depths of silence and prayer,
in the joy of fraternal love,
in the unique fruitfulness of the Cross.
Holy Mary,
Mother of believers,
pray for us.
Amen.

Appeals Court Overrules ESCR Defunding
The Court of Appeals reversed 2-1 Judge Royce Lamberth’s immediate injunction against NIH funding of ESCR. This changes nothing on the ground, as the original decision was already stayed. The reversal does not end the case, but returns it to Lamberth for further proceedings or trial. And then, more appeals, with a final decision perhaps by the U.S. Supremes.
