Mona Charen gives conservatives something to think about before voting: Townhall.com::13 Reasons to vote Republican on Nov. 7::By Mona Charen

Townhall.com::13 Reasons to vote Republican on Nov. 7::By Mona Charen: "What I don't understand is the seeming tepidness of so many Republicans. Yes, the war in Iraq is a long, hard slog. The world is not Topeka, Kansas (would that it were). A journalist pointed out to President Bush at his most recent press conference that the Iraq war has now been going on as long as World War II did for the United States. Well, yes, but we lost 407,316 men in World War II. On Iwo Jima alone, we lost 6,800. This is not to say that the deaths of our people in Iraq should be trivialized. But comparisons with World War II -- in terms of sacrifice and terrible price paid -- are ridiculous." Charen discusses the economy, the judiciary, to immigration. Conservatives won't want to miss this column.

NBC says comments such as 'God made you special and He loves you very much' were offensive and censored them from the show." To read more visit: Conservative Battleline Online --NBC Censors God's Love:

Geer warned that homosexual legal activists in Pennsylvania and elsewhere will make good on their agenda to exploit rulings like New Jersey’s to force homosexual 'marriages' or marriage benefits on our Commonwealth. To read more visit:

Speaker Hastert, The Foley Scandal And Contradictions -- Paul M. Weyrich -- GOPUSA

"We called on Members of Congress completely to investigate the Mark Foley matter and for any Member who was involved to step down. The statement had not yet been issued when calls began to come and kept coming.

In total, that day I did 25 interviews with, it seems, virtually all the major newspapers and chains. I got caught up in the feeding frenzy of the moment and called for Speaker J. Dennis Hastert's resignation. I did so without hearing his side of the story." To read the full article click here:Speaker Hastert, The Foley Scandal And Contradictions -- Paul M. Weyrich -- GOPUSA:

Times Leader | 10/05/2006 | Carney, Sherwood square off

Representative Don Sherwood and his opponent Chris Carney debated the issues at Bucknell University on October 4th. The Scranton Times and the Citizens Voice (also a Times Shamrock Newspaper) neglected to make any mention of a substantial difference between the two candidates: namely, Sherwood is pro-life and has a 100% pro-life voting record while Carney is pro-abortion. Shame on the Scranton Times and the Citizens Voice for hiding this fact from their readers. Thanks to the Times Leader and the Sunbury Daily item for informing their readers about the candidates' abortion positions.

Times Leader 10/05/2006 Carney, Sherwood square off: states: " Abortion. Sherwood, who has won a 100-percent rating from the nation’s pre-eminent anti-abortion group, said the issue is one on which “good people can disagree,” while accusing Carney of “waffling” on the issue. Carney, who is on the record as supporting a right to abortion, carefully restated the position he’s given elsewhere: As a Roman Catholic, he is personally opposed to abortion, but favors full access to “reproductive health care.”"

The Daily Item - Sherwood, Carney square off

Iraq, abortion among topics at debate

LEWISBURG — Questions of moral character and the cost of an ongoing war were fielded at Wednesday's debate between 10th Congressional District candidates Don Sherwood and Chris Carney.

The event began with Mr. Sherwood, of Tunkhannock, a four-term Republican incumbent, expressing pride in his voting record, including lowering taxes, increasing spending by 46 percent for veterans and supporting pro-life issues." their web site also contains vidoe clips from the debate.

The Daily Item - Mid-Daily Items: Are the gloves off, yet?

"Mr. Carney is reportedly personally opposed to abortion, but he wants it to remain legal.... “I’m a Roman Catholic father of five — I do not favor abortion. I favor adoption, responsible education, and access to comprehensive reproductive health care.” TO read more visit:
The Daily Item - Mid-Daily Items: Are the gloves off, yet?:

How about a definition of "reproductive health care"? From the World Health Organization:
"'Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Reproductive Health addresses the reproductive processes, function and system at all stages of life. Reproductive Health implies that people are able to have a responsible, satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so. Implicit in this last condition are the right of men and women to be informed of and to have access to safe, effective, affordable and acceptable methods of fertility regulation of their choice, and the right of access to appropriate health care services that will enable women to go safely through pregnancy and child birth and provide couples with the best chance of having a healthy infant.'

The WHO document goes on to talk about how they feel it is important to provide abortion services at the primary health care level and the importance of the removal of unnecessary restrictions from policies and regulations in order to accomplish their goals. Is the definition Mr. Carney subscribes to?

Eight Senate Democrats Flip, Kill Parental Notification Bill

"A bill to generally require notification of one parent before a minor obtains an out-of-state abortion died Friday when Senate Democrats voted overwhelmingly to block it.

Hours before Congress adjourned for pre-election campaigning, 57 senators voted to remove the final procedural obstacle to S. 403, which would have cleared the bill for transmission to President Bush for his signature. But 57 was three votes short of the 60 required under Senate rules to break through a procedural roadblock erected by the Senate Democratic leadership."
